Lyme Disease Support Group
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.
I think we are starting this journey about the same time. I'm doing antibiotics along with herbal supplements. I wanted to do both because I started juicing May 2012 and went chemical free with food and all. So, I understand the fact of not wanting to take something that your liver will have to process but I'm also ready for some relief so I've started taking antibiotics.
I'm adjusting to the meds better now and I think for now, I'm not herxing. I do believe from what I've read that you will do that every 4 weeks on antibiotics but it's part of killing out the bacteria.
I have an awesome Lyme doctor that is very up to date with the disease. I believe finding a doctor who has knowledge is important. Please keep us posted on how you are doing and if you decide to take antibiotics.
Wishing you the very best.....
