Lyme Disease Support Group
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.
Some days I can't wait for the day to be over so I can sleep and not have to deal with it for those few hours (there was a time when I couldn't sleep either)
I don't think it will help you but know that there are many others just like you going through the same stuff. Many of us have been dealing with it for years
It helps me to keep thinking that some day I will be free of it and feel like a normal person again. When I am better I will appreciate how I feel ! (I'm not going to take it for granted like many others I see)
Lime almost killed me again at age 38 when i had real strange heart arythmia where my pulse dropped to an erratic less than 30 beats a minute. Now i know this is thanks to the lyme i ve had all this time.I can relate to extreme so called growing pains as i grew up and now i know it was lyme. Lyme also gave me Bell's palsy twice where half my face would be paralyzed for about 2 weeks. Another symptom of lyme.
I know now that my mom did have lyme because her symptoms all indicate lyme, and her alzheimers was probably triggered by lyme. I am glad now that i am in this lyme battle because at my age, i am at the same age as my mom's alzheimer started and i sure do not want such a fate.
Jnhou is right on. Prior to even testing for lyme, they tested me for toxic metals. Three elements, namely lead, mercury, and cadmium were more than 10 times the max normal. I was very toxic and before the lyme testing even began, i had to start undergoing detoxifying. Also, my immune system was tested, and it became apparent that i really had no functioning immune system to speak of. Currently we are working to detoxify me and to improve my immune systems and both are integral to starting the fight against long term lyme.
It is not an easy journey, this lyme bit, but now that i know what has been causing all this havoc in my life, my current osteo-arthritic knee is almost bearable even though it is in pain most of the time and i am limping along badly since last February.

with this at such a young age. I'm sorry to see that you're going
through all of this. Yes, I'd be curious to know what 'all these
medications' might be. Sometimes doctors start out slow. Seeing
what reaction you'll have to a specific medicine. Many times, my
system couldn't handle one, ie certain antibiotics, and then he'd
stop using that.
My doctor also works with detoxification. Sometimes our
detox pathways are blocked and we can't get rid of the die
offs from the treatments. Hopefully, you will find your way with
this as you go. Finding a support group can of coarse be
helpful if it's not too overwhelming. Reading books has
helped me. Coming on this site is another way to gain
good support..
I have improved and gotten better over time. I don't
feel there's a 'miracle' treatment but the quality of my life
has improved.
I think we all cope in our own individual ways. I've
been doing a spiritual practice. I do creative things, like
drawing and writing. I've found 2 excellent support groups
and I can phone people when I feel like talking.
Is there a support group in your area? Would your parents help you start one?
Maybe getting a second opinion about all the meds you are on from an ILADS dr.. will help.
You are not alone.
