I hope you can see a LLMD soon. It's not unusual to have to wait 3 months to get an initial visit. But an LLMD will not need to send you for alot of expensive painful tests. They will know what they are dealing with and what to do. Before you take any steroids make sure the doctor explains what the consequences OF NOT taking them are. Sometimes you just have to take some knowing it will further depress the immune system. You take the Prednisone eye drops because if you don't you'll lose your vision. Or your liver is inflammed and you're looking at death. If the steroids are to make you more comfortable or shut you up then I'd probably say "Thanks but no thanks."

A drug company called Envita posted an animated video on You Tube. It's called How lyme disease and it's treatments work. The explanation of the disease may be helpful. I don't have any opinion on the drug. To my mind it also describes polymyositis.

My mom is coming to visit and help me out with all of this. I hope to be able to see an LLMD either the end of this coming week or beginning of next week.

However, the orthopedic was only giving me an opinion based on an ortho perspective.

Has anybody ever heard of Lyme causing an abnormal EMG? I've been trying to google information but I hate googling because that leads to more worry. Is there anybody on here that had an abnormal EMG before being diagnosed?

My NCV was normal. So the doctor said basically that my nerves are firing fine but they are not communicating correctly with my muscles. I know that Lyme can get into the nerves and muscles and cause all kinds of problems so I'm just wondering if anybody had any insight on this?

Hi Keri. I think that's what you're referring to a nerve conduction test, though you haven't said what part of your body was being tested. I don't know if Lyme affects these tests, but I do know that it affects muscles and muscle tension and certainly causes inflammation, so if this was a nerve conduction test, then it certainly could be influenced by Lyme.

I agree with uncleben about benefit verses risk. But also see a conundrum in that you seem to be wondering if with treatment for Lyme, these symptoms, along with many other symptoms may be reversed. It could well be. Did the doctor explain to you the benefits verses the risk of having or delaying treatment? Is there a serious risk in delaying treatment? Those are the questions that I would want answered. I want to say that it's important that your doctor know that Lyme is suspected, but there's always the risk of encountering a doctor who is ill informed or prejudiced about Lyme treatment. I had a fibromyalgia doctor tell me that Lyme was the *disease du jour*, but as it turned out, I had the disease du jour. Let your doctor know that you're hopeful of seeing a specialist this coming week. Steroids do pose a greater risk to Lyme patients, so if it's safe to do so, you may want to put off treatment until you can obtain information from the LLMD.

We also have to realize that not everything that we have relates to Lyme, so it's always best to have things checked out by a doctor.

I surely hope that you're able to get in to see the LLMD soon. I just think that a lot of these issues are going to fall into place once you've seen a LLMD. Write all this down and take to the LLMD. Good luck!
