I was just watching Oprah and Montel Williams, and Dr. Oz said on there that anyone with an autoammune problem should take Vitamin D, does anyone take it and how much????

Hi bunny, I take Celtratewith vit. D. plus a vitamin D pill on its own. About 1500 u a day. With bone loss, plus living in a Province that has only about 3 months of summer it was reccomended that I take it. I rarely am out in the sun as it is, so I will take all the Vitamin I am supposed too! Take Care xoo

Hi there. Thats one thing we should have checked by dr because people with chronic pain often have low vit D. I take 4000 a day. Sylvie I know about the three months summer as I live next door in northwestyern ontario. I don'tthink we are getting three months of summer this year. lol hugs marilyn

I take an extra 1000iu a day, remember that you need to check what else you eat that is fortified with vitamin D like milk and you get supposedly enough by getting out in the sun for 15 minutes 3 times a week.
Vitamin D is necessary for calcium absorption. I have increased my bone density since I started taking both Vitamin D and calcium.

I have been on 50,000 units prescription a few times & take 2,000 mg Vit D per day per rheumy's recommendation.

I take 1800 iu a day Vitamin D along with 1200 mg Calcium. Unfortunately, it has not increased my bone density since mine continues to get worse. But maybe it is slowing it down! I know it is good to take D regardless since we can't get it from natural sunlight since we avoid it.

Hi, Bunny, I am taking 1600 IU of Vitamin D and 4000 mg of Calcium a day, and I am doing so much better, BUT I am also taking a combination of other things too. I guess it makes sense that it would usually have to be a combination of a number of things. Mary

I just starting taking extra and Wow is it helping! I am taking an extra 1000 iu in addition to the 400 that are in my calcium tablet and whatever is in my multivitamin horse pill LOL

I've had more energy, better brain function, and less bowel issues. I am thrilled!

also, I started taking it b/c of the Dr. Oz comment too.

I had a script for a $200 blood test to see if I *might* be Vit D deficient and to tell if it was sun or food related but I thought, well it's much cheaper to take a tablet in moderation for a week and see what happens and I'm glad I did. I don't give a fig what anyone says, some things are just common sense.
