I have lupus but it didn't seem to active or at least I thought until today. I am not sure if what happened is lupus related or just another ailment to add to my diabetes, PTSD, depression and lupus.
I was watching tv enjoying my Saturday and my back started to hurt. At first it was just uncomfortable then the pain came in. I got nauseated and very hot. The pain intensified. It was all over my back in my stomach ribs and shoulders. I had not experienced this type of pain before. It came on in a matter of 10 minutes. I tried to stretch my back nothing helped. I got to my kitchen to take some Tramacet but I couldn't take the pain and I collapsed. I was in the floor for 5 mins. The floor was cool and seemed to help. So my husband got me an ice pack. 5 mins after that it was back to being uncomfortable. The whole episode lasted 45 mins. It felt like forever.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Has anyone experienced this type of pains before. Am I just the freak?

First of all I would go to your doctor to rule out any cardiac problems. That being said, your issue could be Pancreatitis which is an Inflammation of the pancreas and can cause severe abdominal pain in the upper middle or upper left part of the abdomen that may radiate to the back, causing nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, swollen or tender belly, and a rapid heartbeat. Chronic pancreatitis can also cause anemia, inability to digest food. Like I said, I would definitely get this checked out by your physician. Hope all goes well!!!

First off you are not a freak!!!!! we get plenty of judgment from people outside this sight we are here to support each other,your pain is real,now I agree with Mel,you should talk to your dr. asap any pain that causes you to collapse to me sounds dangerous I wish your hubby had called the parametics and if it happens again I hope he does.I can't dx. you but both possibilities Mel mentioned are life threatening so talk to your dr. right away and keep us posted,we care,Cindy

It sounds a lot like gall stones. If the main pain is on the right lower ribcage, it could be. You can also feel the pain all over your chest. I did when I had my first two instances of this. The docs dismissed it as indigestion. The thirds time it hurt in the lower right part and then they knew what it really was. That pain can also come and go and man does it hurt. You should get checked out by a Dr. and possibly have an Ultrasound of the area. Go to the ER if it happens again. It can also be life threatening.
