Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE and I have tried plaquenil, which 10 days into it I started getting these "blisters" in my mouth. They were bubbles, filled with clear fluid, almost like water.
The doc thought I was allergic to the plaquenil and we stopped it, I stayed on prednisone for treatment.
Two weeks ago I was started on imuran with prednisone. About 10 days into treatment i got blisters in my mouth again.
The doc says hes not sure if its the lupus breaking through, or if its a medication allergy.
Has anyone ever had these blisters? Are these the "sores" that everyone is talking about or is that different ?

I went to the doctor a while ago to see about my allergies. He rubbed my arm and stuck things under the skin. Nothing. He poked and prodded, his phlebotomist drew so much blood people thought that we were dating. The tests all came back negative. Then one day I went back and I told him that I had found the cause of my allergy.It turns out, I am allergic to betrayal.

This isn't really bipolar related but there is never anyone on the parenting groups, this is the most active group I've been in.My 6yr old son has really bad seasonal allergies and they're in full force right now. He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...
I saw my Rheumatologist the other day...my test results are pretty good, but said the Lupus was definitely flaring. We are just into Spring here in Australia and he said the change in temperature plus increased light/UV levels was probably the cause. He prescribed a stronger steroid cream for my arms/legs and I got a mini lecture about covering up when outside - damn those tanned hands:)
I also get lesions, these just look like bad scalds.....that's all I can think of for now. You will get to know, what is Lupus related and what's not. Please do watch out for signs of infection as the medication to slow down the Lupus will suppress your normal ability to fight bugs and heal.
Hope this wasn't a downer...it's not meant to be, but Lupus and I are old friends these days, so if my experiences can help a newly diagnosed person I am happy to share.
