Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
The good news is that I haven't gained any weight but the steroid pulse definetly got me puffy.
I eat small healthy snacks every three hours (sometimes 2 1/2). This helps to boost your metabalism as well as control your hunger.
I also try to have some protein with every snack which really helps my appetite. Have healthy snacks on hand so you stay away from the junk food.
Here's some of thngs that I eat:
Breakfast - gluten free waffle with almond butter and honey.
Protein Shake - Blend Kale, spinache, fresh ginger, carrots, blueberries, rasberies, protein powder, flax seeds, etc. Makes two servings so it's two of my snacks for the day.
Apple with walnuts
Edaname
Lightly salted brown rice cakes with almond butter and unsweetened organic apple sauce
Veggies and hummus
Pumpkin seeds
Scambled eggs with fresh salsa and avacado - no salt.
Watch your salt intake on Prednisone.
Good luck!
drink a full glass of room temp water before you eat. You wont eat as much.
good luck
Hugs and stay well

When my levels started to drop I was more in control of my appetite, the 20 mg mark for me. I also banned most sweets from the house then. Hard to eat what is not there. I will admit though that there were still times that I would send my husband out for a snicker's.
