Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
pounds. I eat for stress, I eat because I'm bored, I eat cause I'm lonely, I eat because I don't smoke anymore. I with all my other ailments I suffer from that dreaded fork to mouth disease. And the only diet that works for me is the C food diet. I see food I eat.
Wheeew! I have a lovely salad in the frig I made Saturday, I have a cake my niece made Saturday. The cake is finished and the salad is ready for the trash! This weight is bad and I wish I could find the disipline. If you find the answers please share.

It is not the calories that you need but rather that walnuts and almonds are bitter which help end that hunger. That hunger that won't go away even when full and cannot take another bit. Walnuts works.
Here is your diet:
6am to 8 am: zuchini squash (or any othe green vegeatables) and some protein for breakfast.
Around 10 am: raw walnuts. Eat 1 to 2 palm size amounts.
Around noon: protein and salad.
Around 3 pm: more walnuts or almonds
Around 5 pm (dinner): more protein and green vegetables.
Until your inflammation is under control, don't eat dairy, grains, sugars (including fruits). You will go through withdrawals as if you have been on drugs.
You can handle it. If you falter, get back up and start again. You can make it. I did, and I have no will-power. If you fail, don't worry about it; just do it again. Each time, you are closer to staying on track for a longer time.

i know exactly how you feel and it is VERY HARD.i started last week i decided to get of my bum and stop feeling sorry for myself.(hope it lasts)i can't exercise because of pain and mobility so all i can control is what goes into my big old mouth SO when i am hungry and i know i couln't possibly be i drink water or have a piece of fruit.I simply follow the healthy diet that i hand up to my child every day.Instead of sweets I have 3 or 4 small meals and healthy snacks in between.I drink alot of water to fill me up .I also see this as something I can control. Now who knows how long this will last hopefully i can keep it up i'm having a good few days and coping well with pain so i'm hoping i can do this.My weight has gone up alot over the years because of meds Lyrica kindly gave me 40lbs and that was while i had no appetite. But i suppose i can't do wrong eating healthy my main problem is i don't have an appetite and i forget to eat then i grab something sweet so now i am doing it right i hope i can stay on top of the pain to get a chance to do it for a few weeks.I'll let you know how it goes.Gosh i have gone off the point what i mean is don't mess with your body try and do it right and mind your health.Best of luck.
Let me put this in perspective: steroids are basically adrenalin. When we get a dose of adrenalin, our body goes in to fight or flight mode from caveman days and in order to fight or flee, our body puts out extra insulin to break down the food in our system to give us energy to run or fight. But we're not running or fighting and so the insulin makes our blood sugar DROP and then we feel the need to eat again to refuel. More complex foods like proteins and grains break down slower and help keep things stable so you don't just grab whatever is there. And we're biologically programmed to grab what will break down the fastest.
We need to outsmart our bodies while we're on steroids. I do things like only buy ice cream (for my kids) in flavors I hate. And only keep things that are healthy. If it's not there to grab, you can't just grab it. But it's still a struggle. I keep protein bars around for those times; the Zone dark chocolate ones are a good substitute for REAL candy, but with a lot of protein.
Hope this helps.

Instead of picking up junk food get rid of it all of it, throw it away...all of it..
Start filling your house full of good stuff, fruit, veggies, grains, etc. These can be real feiling. I love smoothies myself.
2 bannanas
4 slices of pinanples
1 orange
1 cup bluberries
1 cup mixed frozen fruit
1 cup soy milk or fat free skim milk
1/2 cup yogurt
mix in blender and you have a filling meal or snack...yum.
Take Care xoxo
