I experienced that moon face before when I took 50 mg a day. Now I am taking 5 mg a day I think it slowly get to normal alfreay. Not as bad as before.

My husband is on 20mg, his face is still round but not as bad as it was when he was on 100mg. It kees going down with time.

The moon face is a type of Cushion's Syndrome and it is caused by the steroids. It may go away when you stop taking the steroids or it may not it all depends on the amount and duration of steroid use.

Mine went away when I went to 10mg of Prednisone. I also really really watched my diet. My face was fat anyway

how long did it take for your face to go down at 10 mg? or was it almost overnight for you?

yes i always get this .got it right now.i am on 30 mgs.slowly going down.it sucks.doesnt work as well as it used too.i think i have been on it too long......marie

YES! I have this. I have been on prednisone quite a few times already. Now, I am not taking it, but I still have puffy cheeks. I really really hope it goes away.

hi! a year ago i was on 100mg, now i'm off of it and the 'mooness' has gone. it will take some time even after you stop to get it completely out of your system.

I've definitely had the moon face about 7 months ago. What helped was weaning off the prednisone and also i took CLA supplement which studies have shown it also helps lose weight and also given to some cancer patients because of its benefits with cell division...
My face has looked normal, now I have to just lose weight on my waist!

Yes, I have the "moon" face - my rheumatologist is slowly weaning me down to 5 mg per day of Prednisone, so maybe it will go away.

Another question - what is this CLA supplement that helps you lose weight while on Prednisone? I am desperate to lose some of the weight I've gained on Prednisone but have been told that it is "virtually impossible" to lose weight while taking Prednisone. Please tell your experience. Do you take it while on Prednisone?

CLA is also known as Conjugated Lineoc Acid.It is a natural food supplement to help you lose body fat. My husband buys the Nature Made brand (available at any pharmacy). The usual dose is 2 pills per meal,, but I was only taking 1 pill a day just to see if it works or not. After taking it for 4 weeks, my friends tell me I lost some of my fat in my face already. It's supposed to also target fat around the midsection as well.
I've also been avoiding foods that have the word hydrogenated oils/partially hydro oils and high fructose corn syrup in them (linked to diabetes and heart disease). So far I've lost 5 lbs in 4 weeks, which isn't bad for a sedentary person like me...

I had been on and off predisone for a good year now and been on nothing more thatn 15mg. I have never gotten a moon face or gained weight. In fact, I lost weight every time i went on it.
