Hi! I hear the Sleep Number beds are awesome. My sister swears by hers...and the neat thing is your partner can have one setting and you can have your setting. They are rather expensive, but might be worth looking into.

We have a mattress topper on our rather firm mattress and it works well. It doesn't "heat up" and treats our bones well. Costco has a good price on them, and they're returnable. Many people like Sleep Number beds. My husband, who's quite a bit heavier than me, and I had one and it bounced whenever he turned; the newer ones may not do that. For big bucks, a lot of people like the Westin Heavenly bed (a high end BeautyRest, I think).

We bought a temperpedic after I was diagnosed as I just couldn't get comfortable in our old bed. It has been the best money we could have ever spent. In the beginning I thought it was a bit firm, but as time has passed, the way it conforms to your body is wonderful as I don't have my feet and hands falling asleep all of the time anymore. It was expensive, but they have a 20 year guarantee not to sag and after 3 years mine looks like new.

I forgot to add that in the winter, we add a heated mattress pad. I get cold easily and between the mattress and the heat from the mattress pad the difference in how well I can sleep is amazing.

Id highly recommend the Temperpedic., they also make a pillow which is amazing!!

Does Temperpedic contain latex? I haven't been able to find any composition list on their web site or advertising. Mattress toppers have been okay, but latex layers are no good for me.

Thanks for all of your replies about the beds. I have been continuing my research and am now looking at the Serta icomfort (like the tempurpedic but supposedly not as hot) Anyone have experiences with that one? It is also a lot cheaper. It does have latex but the salesperson assured me it is not the "allergic kind"? [Sooki what reactions do you notice from the latex?]
I haven't seen the Sleep Number Beds but I do not want anything that will move a lot, my husband has restless leg syndrome pretty bad.

"Not the allergic kind" sounds like sales talk. Sometimes there is a latex layer below the top layer and I guess it's not clear how allergenic that would be. I get hives on my neck and face, followed by dizziness, so it's pretty obvious. I tried a mattress with a latex layer, in the store, and got hives, but I think they may have also given me a latex pillow which would definitely do it (they don't have a clue). If you're not allergic to it, it's not a problem. Many people like their latex beds. I noticed the latex allergy about 10 years ago when I was having some orthodontic work done and those latex gloves were in my mouth a lot. There's nothing like a new, comfy bed - get some new pillows to go with it!!

we've had a "cousin" to the temperpedic for about 13 years. We love it. I was an expensive but very worth while investment.

My Mom and Dad had the Sleep number beds. My Mom absolutely loved hers. Dad never said much about anything! After Dad had to be moved to a nursing home (he had Parkinson's) both my sister and I, at different times spent time at Mom's. We slept in Dad's room and bed. We both felt that sleeping on that bed (Sleep Number Bed) was like sleeping on a giant air mattress like used for camping. It didn't matter how it was adjusted. Now, this was an older model so maybe they've changed but if not, you would never convince me to get one esp if compared to the temperpedic.

A couple of funny stories about the sleep number beds. Mom and Dad had just split into 2 rooms. (Mom was ill, Dad snored terribly so it was a beneficial thing and they had the room with kids gone. Well they got the controllers confused when they moved the beds. Needless to say it took a bit for them to realize why, when one pushed the control button to adjust the hardness or softness of their bed nothing happened but; in the meantime, the other person next door couldn't figure out why their bed was moving when they'd not touched the control. LOL. You must understand they were 70+

The next funny I remember was when Mom was 84 or so. She had some early dementia and some things were becoming difficult. Of course it do cause some funny times. She had a really hard time differentiating between the controller for her bed and the one for her ceiling fan. We go to check on her when she would go in to nap. we would find her sunk way down into her bed because she had tried to turn the fan on or off. She usually kept the matress pretty firm because it was easier for her to get in and out so to find her all sunk into the bed and stuck was so pathetic. Of course if you tried to take one away from her she would be indignant. She was adamant "There's nothing wrong with my brain" I miss my Mom and Dad. Can you tell? I just realized that tomorrow is the 2nd anniversary of my Dad's death. Mom died 22 days later. They'd been married 62 years. Gotta go

We have a comfortaire which is the same as the sleep number. I love the fact that our bed can have the head and feet up due to being adjustable but my husband hates the air mattress. I don't mind it but we both got temperpedic tops for our mattresses lol!! They get very hot!! I would get my parents mattress which is a very comfy pillow top.

There are a lot of mattress brands are available on the market but all of them are not good for health and sleep. A bad mattress can cause plenty of health problems such as body ache, lower back pain, chronic pain, etc. You must know the health problem causes by a new mattress. this may have been mentioned already but how about the adjustable bed so that you can reposition yourself when you are uncomfortable or want to sleep in an upright position.

Get a temperpedic. Mattress. Memory foam. Expensive but is the answer to your pain and sleeping comfortably.
