Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

i really appreciated reading about the "spoon" analogy. it was perfect! I had once joined a group to help people with AIDS back when the stigma was so incredibly high. we had to do an exercise that was a lot similiar to the spoons. starting out with a handfull of things and people and having each yanked out of our hands...or having to choose and then in the end losing it all anyway... it helped me understand so much that i actually experienced a great deal of loss and pain just doing the exercise. it sounds like this person has had a very similiar effect on others with her "spoon theory."
it actually explains my whole life. i want to send a link to all those people who got tired of me not always being able to make plans and follow through...so many family members and friends just wrote me off and just considered me to be a flake, just assuming i always had choices i never had. if I tried to explain my illness then it meant i was HIDING BEHIND IT as an excuse. really?? like i'd rather be at home in pain or totally spent often alone rather than be out having fun with family and friends?
heck, the analogy actually makes me feel better about myself...
thanks again. so appreciated!
