Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

my mother has lupus and recently informed me that she is at stage 3, can anyone explain what that means? She's having a hard time with treatments, something about her body rejecting them. I'm really looking to find out how this disease affects the body. I try to talk to her but she gets upset, and tells me not to worry. Please help guys, i sure would appreciate it.

My Dr.'s have never talked about my Lupus ie stages, nor have I read of it as stages. However, if you googple Lupus, there is a lot of excellent info on line that I think you will find helpful. I'm thinking your mom must be advanced to having her kidneys involved (?)

I have Lupus and have kidney damage from it. When I have a lot of protein in my urine, they tell me I have stage 3 Lupus Nephritis. That is the only staging I know about. Does she have kidney trouble?

Im not sure if she is having trouble with her kidneys. But i do know that her liver is going through something, the docs r going to do a biopsy to check out a possible liver disease.

after my biopsy of my kidney the doctor told me that my lupus is stage 1 only (consider as minor) but still needs to be treated. I even ask my biopsy copy and all the writings they wrote there to help me understand and I google some also. I also got bubbles in my urine.

From what my docs told me, the stages refer to the amount of damage done to the body, usually organs.
