I was diagnosed with Lupus at 16 and at 17 i had diabetes. My doctors told me it was because of the Predisone. After about 3 years. I got off of Predisone the diabetes seemed to level out. My sugars were normal. Then 3 years after that, i guess my weight and my family history caught up and I had problems with my sugars again.

I know i am not the only one out there but it is just fustrating dealing witht these two things diseases. I find when my lupus flares my sugars are out of control. I can't excerise. I can't eat.

Does anyone have words of wisdom for me. I could use some right aobut now.

Hi Jen,

Every time I go by your "zero" responses, I feel badly. I don't respond because I know NOTHING about diabetes. I have no words of wisdom at all. I am on Sjogren's and Lupus and the responses I get from both camps are really helpful. Can you list Lupus and Diabetes? So sorry for your pain and aggravaton and confusion. You have two major disorders at the same time. That's just plain awful. I'll be thinking of you.Sorry not to be of any help. xoxo summer

hi jen. how have you been feeling lately? it must be frusterating dealing with more than one chronic disorder. I know it must be hard when your sugars fluctuate making you maybe feeling sick during flares especially must be hard. keep taking your medications and i would just take your sugars more often during flares so you can someone regulate it. if its higher i would stay away from the carbs or things to highten the sugar and when its a bit low, try to give yourself just a little bit to maintain the sugars up there. I cant imagine how it must feel to be in bed during flares. i hope there is someone that can help you when you need it. take care

I truely feel your pain not that it helps you any hearing that. My daughter was diagnosed with diabetes at 15 it is on both sides of the family by age 22 she had ra and lupus and has also been given diagnosis of psoratic arthiritis now. Drs told us that one autoimmune dsease will lead to more is whats going on with her. I agree that about all u can do is watch what u at for what ever your sugars r doing at that time. Have a bunch of the same problems myself and onl on prednisone when really bad flare up and it seems to drive my sugar up at first thentapers off. And it is much harder when u cant exercise I do try to walk a little when I can but its not easy. About all u can do is take 1 day at a time. Hang in there
