Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
You also might want to try Fluconozale (DiFlucan) instead of ketoconozale; I've had better success with that. But you'll probably have the same situation; it will keep recurring.
Good luck with this. I know it's frustrating, but it comes with the immunosuppressant turf. Once we get approval for Beluzimab, the first biological drug for lupus, people like you won't have problems like this any more because it does NOT suppress the immune system across the board. It only suppresses one particular cell so yeast infections will be no more common with it than for the normal public!!

I do agree that the ideal treatment is to get your immune system in best functioning mode --- not easy to do though.
But thrush is FUNGAL candidiasis. Eating yogurt or kefir will not affect thrush. There are no good ways to get rid of it OTHER than antifungal medications. There are various home rememdies, none of which were successful when studied in trials. Back to the yougurt, per the Mayo Clinic http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/search/search:
.... lactobacillus, bacteria normally found in the vagina, but scientific evidence of benefit is limited. Some studies show that lactobacillus available in some types of yogurt taken orally or used intravaginally successfully reduced the amount of vaginal yeast cultures and provided symptom relief. But the studies were in a small number of women, with no control groups, and other studies haven't been able to corroborate those findings.
ME AGAIN: Yogurt has plenty of calcium; Greek yogurt has calcium AND protein and there's nothing wrong with eating it. But it will NOT cure your yeast infections. Sorry.
In cases like ours where we are immunosuppressed and have recurrent yeast infections (and know what they look like) doctors often give you a prescription for the pharmacy to hold on to unti l you need it. The time to try and get a Rx for Diflucan is NOT on a weekend when you're ready to go crazy from itching. Given that w'ere immunosuppressed, this is just one of the things that happens to us. I try to be prepared with stuff like this at home.

I have had yeast infections for years as well, mostly in my mouth (thrush). The key to keeping them away for me is to take the oral fungal treatment and then continuously use something like a pro-biotic as a preventative. This can help. You will not get this from eating yogurt though. First, yeast thrives off of sugar and areas that have more moisture (like tracy said). Most yogurt A, Is loaded with sugar so that it counteracts the purpose of the good bacteria in it (unless it is plain yogurt) B. Does not have enough of all the good bacterias in it for people like us who have a problem with fungus/yeast. The best way to get probiotics is in a powder/pill form from a health food store which is stored in the refrigerated area. It has trillions of different bacterias in it to keep the good bacteria in our bodies/intestine from being constantly killed. I also get good results from using this powder probiotic as a mouth wash (if it is a MILD case) when my tongue hurts. You may want to give this a try. It cant hurt you and may be worth the $18.00 investment. Also, you should take this anytime you go on antibiotics. They do this with animals as well. I give my bunnies, goats, etc. probiotics if I ever give them antibiotics. Hope you get rid of this for good soon. It is miserable...
