Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

I have had a constant headache for about 3 weeks. I am wondering if that is common in Lupus? I only got rid of it once with a percocet and a zanx chaser. I called the pharmacist and she said it could be a rebound from the amount of Ibuprofen I take. She told me to pulse the Ibuprofen with Tylenol, which I've done with no result. Does any one have any experience with this?

OK, I clicked on the green highlighted Ibuprofen. I am going to quit taking this now. I've been on high doses for 5 weeks. I've had menengitis before, the pain was much more severe, dibilitating.

I take 5 vicaprophens a day for about a year now. And two dilaudid's at night. The pain of my fibromyalgia leaves me no other choice. But I have actually noticed more slight headaches than I have ever had. In fact I rarely ever got headaches. I am curious now if it coul dbe from th eibuprophen. Each pill I take is 7.5/200mg

Hey this is very interesting , my husband never gets headaches but since he has been taking ibuprofen for his back injury and his arthritis he has been getting terrible headaches . I have had headaches every day for as long as 3 months in a row but it is mostly related to my lupus , I don't usually take ibuprofen . I had to be admitted once for iv painkillers to break the cycle of my headache . Needless to say it didn't work . I will pass this information on to my husband , thanks for the tip !

I have had bad headaches for a long, long time. i now take Fiorinal with codeine for them . But from experience I know you can get rebound headaches from almost anything you take too much of. This includes too much asprin too much ibuprofen too much codeine and I am sure there are more i missed. Brenda

I had finally got rid of a month long headache after short term Predinsone. It is no fun to constantly have a headache. I can instantly get one from perfume, cleaning supplies, really-any smell! Good luck!

Watch out for Ibuprophen. I had a friend who lost both kidney by taking too much IBU for too many days in a row. He ended up getting a kidney transplant so he was lucky he didn't die. I watch science programs and about 4% of IBU is toxic to your liver and builds up in your liver if your liver doesn't have time to get rid of it. I stay away from that stuff & use aspirin.

Yes,that is true. You can get rebound headaches,Also headaches are a symptom of lupus.I was told not to take aspirin and ibuprofen, within 6 hours of each other. You should alternate there usage,to ever other day.
