Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.
I desperately want to avoid prednisone, but it works for me... I am also leary of anti-depressants (all drugs) so I want to do tons of homework before putting anything in my mouth... thanks much!
I stay on a healthy dose of Prozac for my brain fog/anxiety/depression
Prednisone did a number on me mentally but like the majority of us, it DID THE JOB for any flare at the time being. Like Luv said I dont want to sound harsh but my personal side effects were life altering. I was having severe insomnia (which i still have), mood swings, crying spells, and moments of sheer mental blankness. However I did come to figure out ways to remain as productive as possible.
I have not been on prednisione for about three years now but I still have some issues. Adult ADHD is what I have been diagnosed with but I honestly try not to get caught up in the Name Brand labeling.
Brain excerices have helped 3 fold. Just keep some puzzles, sodoku, and any other type of brain teasers handy to keep your brain going. Also those stick it memos are like my bestfriends. =)
I just plain learned how to work with the brain fog. Staying positive is key!!
