I haven't really decided yet either but am leaning towards no. My rheumatologist does have me take the regular flu shot, and so far I have had no reactions to it. But I'm not too sure about the H1N1 vaccine. I heard from someone who works at a local hospital (which doesn't want to be named) that the vaccine may be more harmful than the swine flu. I will at least wait until October when I see my rheumatologist and will ask about it then. Have they said when the vaccine will be available?

That is the word going around that the side effects are pretty bad with the vaccine. I have heard of a couple people already with medical conditions that have had it and it wasn't too bad for them. I think I am going to be very cautious about germs and wait and see. I am leaning towards no also.

Yesterday I met a girl who had the Swine flu in July....I was in the bead store buying some stuff and overheard the two girls who worked there talking. She said it was like having a bad flu but it affected her lungs. She was on antibiotics and is fine......The reason why they were talking about it was because the other girls boyfriend had just come from the ER diagnosed with the Swine Flu. You have never seen someone get out quicker from a store then I did! Found myself holding my breath while the girl whose boyfriend had the swine flu was coughing away (she said she was getting over a bad cold).. It wouldnt be a bad idea to have a mask on hand if you find you are around people hacking away. I myself, will turn into a hermit like I usually do during the flu season.

I also heard what doodlebee heard. That the vaccination may be worse then the actual flu... Dallas, if your not around alot of people often you may want to hold off until they have done a round of vaccinations on people. News will break if people are getting sick from it. That way, you wont be one of the people who possibly gets sick from it. Just a suggestion.

I have two small children in school. I think I will have them take it. If they don't get sick before then. There are a ton of schools around me that already have outbreaks of the flu. It really scares me.

sickof it....If you have two small children and there IS going to be squalene in the vaccination, I would personally wait until the first round of vaccinations are given to make sure it is not dangerous. Squalene has never been given to children and has made many adults very sick. I hate the thought of people getting sicker from the vaccination then the actual flu itself. Please do some research on this before you make your decision. Im not playing dr. I have just been researching this vaccination and Im not reading anything that sounds good. Even my rheumy said that we dont know how this vaccination will react with people because it has never been used before. Just an FYI.

im unsure on this one..my imune sytom already in meltdown..with lupus crap...my son seems to think all the vacines i had as a child has caused my lupus by compromising the imune systom...so may wait see what happens

If the shots don't have squalene I'll get them for my kids. If they do contain squalene I'd rather not. That preservative scares me.

Bunny, I am getting the flu shot again thios year. I have had it done for 2 years now. Rheumy suggested I have it again this year. I see him in mid Nov and will ask what he thinks about the H1N1 flu shot. All I can say is talk to your Rheumy about your concerns, everyone has different ideas or experiences. Don't be too quick to say no!

I am so afraid of swine, I can't afford to get it, I think i am going to get it, it comes out in Mid-October! If anyone here gets it, please keep us updated to any reactions, I don't think any doc can say for sure how we will do, we WOULD be the guiena pigs for it with LUPUS, I've been gueina pigged to death, so what difference does it make now, I couldn't get any sicker!

Hash....You could get sicker if the vaccination is not safe....I am suggesting that everyone waits until the first round is given. If people have horrible side effects or get sick from this new vaccination, it will be all over the news. Just my advice...

I will be watching the news for any fallout of the vaccine. Thanks.
