I had a question about fever. Lately I have been getting really hot. One night my husband told me that I felt hot like I had a fever.
My question is this. My normal temperature is usually between 96-96.9. Occasionally, I get down into the 95s. When I feel like I am really hot and take my temperature it has gotten up to 98.3. For me this is really, really hot. My face is flushed. The other day I felt so hot that I threw up. Since my normal temperature is so low do the doctors take that into consideration?

My doctor says that if I get up to 98, I have a low grade fever. He also said to add 1 degree because I am on prednisone (have been for many years), and temperatures run lower when taking it. So if my temp is, say, 98, I add one degree because of the normal low. That makes it 99. Then I add one more degree because of the pred., so he considers my temp. to be 100. So for me, I add 2 degrees to what ever my thermometer says. Hope that helps. God Bless. Kathy
For years I've run ~97. This past week, I've been feeling like I had a fever but ignored it because, hey, I never run a fever EVER.
Had an appt. with my rheumy Wednesday and it was 99. When I said I'd felt like I'd had one the whole week before, she told me that, for now, I need to keep an eye on fevers.
So yes, a good dr will take it into consideration.
