I go too the rheumatologist tomorrow to see what classification of nephritis I have. I assume it's either 3 or 4. Does anyone have nephritis? If so, what stage and what's the treatment? So far I take 3000mg cellcept daily.

how do they diagnose nephritis? I always have hematuria (blood in the urine).. they aren't sure why, but my kidney function tests always are good

A kidney biopsy. That's how mine started. Gross hematuria and then it became microscopic and then I had proteinuria which lead to a biopsy. Luckily, unlike we thought prior to the procedure, my nephritis is mild. I'm extremely thankful for that.

This is interesting, I have been a mystery for years, but getting IVIG for 3 years.. I have had hematuria the entire time though. No one seems to think much of it. My BUN/creatinine are always ok - with nephritis do these kidney function tests get elevated? Or is hematuria the presenting and main sign?
