Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

Just wondering if anyone else out there also has fibromyalgia? Now, i dont know whats causing the pain... is it a lupus flare or the fibro. Also my blood test have been "normal" according to my doc lately so does that mean i'm in remission? just a bit confused.
How do you maintain your identity when dealing with health issues... How do you remember who you are when for so long you are just a symptom?

I started with Fibromyalgia diagnosed in Dec of '06 now I have are you ready for it. Atrial Fibrillation, Type 2 Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthitis, Lups, Vasculitis etc, etc. I am on Plaquenil, Methotrexate, Colchin, Prednisone and celebrex. I still have a little bit of pain but being on all these drugs worries me about my liver and drug interactions because of the other health issue's I have. After my last Rheumy appt I guess I was overwhelmed finding out that I also had Lupus which is attacking the Pericardium around my heart. A little over a year ago I had Pericarditis Effusion with a sed rate of 126. I was in the hospital for a week and almost had to endure a pericentesis (a needle into the pericardium) THANKFULLY there was not much fluid left boy was I relieved! I take so many meds it feels like a second meal. Half the time I don't know if I am coming or going. I sleep but also suffer from chronic insomnia from the Fibro. There are many days when I feel like I just exist. Thank God for my dog's they get me out of the house........anyway I needed to log in just to regain some of my sanity and to know I am not alone. So Hello everyone I am glad to be back!

I am so sorry you are going through all of this, you have been through the ringer. Sending love, prayers and strength to you. I understand how you feel about the medications however I am lucky not to be on as many as other lupies. I wrote a post on my blog about other diseases and conditions that go along with lupus. http://mrslupus.blogspot.com/2011/11/secondary-diseases-and-conditions.html

I think more research needs to be done to find the connection between the 2 illness.

Mz. I am so sorry honey and trust me we understand here. vent all you want and need. You are never alone with us, one of the things I hate most about being sick is the loneliness. I am also 35 I got diagnosed at 33 but I have been sickly on and off my entire life. I am married to a wonderful man and have two sweet children boys, but sometimes while they are out living their lives I am stuck in bed trying to get through every minute. I have a blog that you may like you can scroll through the posts to see what interests you the most, there is a lot of up to date info http://mrslupus.blogspot.com/ Best wishes and gentle hugs.

Yes, have fibromyalgia along with my Lupus, RA, Sjogrens, Raynauds and everything else. I think the Fibromyalgia causes the most pain. It literally makes my hair hurt at times. Lyrica helped me but it also makes most people gain about 30-40 pounds. So I took it fo about 8 months but then got of of it due to weight gain. Once I stopped the weight dropped right off. There is also a newer drug out for it called Savella but many people experience nausea. I tried it and tolerated it fine but it didn't work for me.
