I do not get rashes or the malar rash across my face. Lupus affects everyones body differently. Some people have all they symptoms of it, while others only have a few. What tests were positive for Lupus? If it was an ANA test then this is not used for a lupus diagnosis on its own. Many different things can cause a positive ANA (other auto immune diseases, virus's, infections, etc.). A good dr. looks at blood work and symptoms and even then are hesitant to give a lupus diagnosis. What are your symptoms? As for a rash...the sun alone can cause this without having lupus can cause this. What does your rheumy say? Have you seen a rheumatologist yet or was your blood work done by a gp? If you havent seen a rheumy yet then you need to see one. Sorry if this sounds all over the place. Little one just woke up and have to get him breakfast!

I have been seeing Drs for over 20 years, and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and then Fibromyalgia with Lupus symptoms and then I moved. I had to start all over with Drs and found this rheumatologist that comes highly regarded as being tops in her field in Fibromyalgia and Lupus.I told her all my symptoms and she has now seen me for over a year and has seen my ups and downs.She has only done blood work,what kind I am not sure, but she did ask me last time if I was in a flare when i got the blood work and I said no and she said well levels were very high. I didnt ask what levels .....my bad! I use to keep tract of all my tests and gets copys , then when we moved I didnt want anything to do with Drs ever again Hahahaha SO I already told all my Drs I want all my Drs to please make me copies of all the tests. I get extremely tired ,joint & muscle pain, flasing lights, strop & ultraviolets lights set me off into a flare & migrane,short term memory problems,poor concentration,I just started getting anxiety again, as that wasnt bothering me a quiet a while, bad stomach issues , lose of weight,hair loss, swollen glands & sore thraot,tingling&numb arms & hands,Arthritis ,Nasal sores, dry eyes and mouth, thats all i can think of right now.

I havnt asked her yet about the rash , but will my next visit which is in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if any one else who has Lupus didnt get a rash.

Not everyone with lupus gets the butterfly rash. I have gotten them quite a few times but only from the sun and not every time I am in a flare. I also get other rashes not on my face. Usually for a lupus diagnosis you need to have four out of eleven criteria, these can be found on the lupus foundation of america website. I am sure you probably know all of this. A positive ANA or other positive blood tests with 3 or more other criteria usually means that it is lupus. I have heard that it is hard to get a diagnosis of lupus when you already have a fibro diagnosis. I do not have this syndrome I just have lupus so I do not know what fibro causes. I think too many people are diagnosed with fibro when something else is wrong. I often wonder if almost everyone could be grouped into have fibro. I think you need like 4 sore pressure points which I am sure a lot of us have from time to time. I hope you get the treatment that you need. I am writing a book, but I wish you the best.

I no longer get the rashes on my face but on other parts of body. It sure sounds to be autoimmune. Fibro does tend to have some of same symptons and often people are diagnosed with fibro for years before getting the lupus or autoimmune disorders. Mar there are 18 trigger points for fibro. Hi. I get the malar rash occasionally and get little red dots with sun exposure. Some other autoimmunes have rash components. Dry mouth, eyes, joint inflammation, stomach/gi issues can be related to the ai sjogren's. Not trying to diagnose you just giving you my perspective. I have lupus and sjogren's. My first diagnosis was MS, then cfs, then fibro and finally lupus/sjogren's. I was sore when they did the fibro test but a lot of the tender pts. are near the swollen/achy joints so of course I winced. My muscles don't hurt unless I do too much or sleep weird. Hang in there. Keep track of your symptoms and ask questions of dr. Don't give up. It takes time sometimes a lot of it.
