We finally had her admitted onto hospice and were really glad we did. They introduced themselves, talked to her, asked her about her fears, beliefs, everything.
If it weren't for them, my mom would have died in extremempain, and had no dignity to follow her to Heaven gate.
Hospice is a whole new world to you and your mom. If you try it, and still dont like it, just change back. Easy as pie.
I hope you try though.
Best of luck.
Your mom needs rest and relief now. Ask her what she thinks.

You should without question, go be with your Mom. However, if you cannot, she WILL understand.
You do not want any regrest later in life though, do you?
You are eligible for FMLA (family medical leave act....unpaid) and are guaranteed your job upon return.
You should also have accrued sick time which you can use to care for an ill family member.
Either way, I am sure if you talk to someone in HR at your company that will see that you get the time off you need.
It should not have to be one or the other.
Let me know how it turns out.
I will pray your Mom goes peacefully.

From my experience, the best thing you can do for her is to simply spend time with her. Even if you have to take her to Hospice, spending time with her is more important than just taking care of her. Dying is a combination of fear, wonder, and disconnection. She needs someone to be close to her during this time, and that will help more than anything you could get for her, or do for her.
I, myself, am dying, so please take my word for it.
The hospice nurse comes twice a week and they take care of most all his medicines, of course medicare pays them for that.
I told them I want to keep him at hime as long as I possably can. They said they would bring a hospital bed when it is needed.
I think you have to let them go in thier own way. My husband said when the time comes he can't go to the bathroom and take care of himself , then he does not want to live. What ever he wants I agree with. This is something every person has the right to decide for themselves.
I am a strong advocate of a persons right to die with dignity. At my age I have seen way many friends and relatives who were kept alive with machines and watched the hell they and their loved ones went through during this time of waiting and watching but not wanting to let go.
