Back Pain

My husband is experiencing severe back pain. It's like nothing he's ever had before, and he can hardly stand up. It's almost two months since his surgery to remove upper lobe of right lung. Could this be something from the surgery. We have a check-up on Friday where we will speak to the doctor about the pain. I guess I'm just not sure we should wait.

I agree with you and would not wait until Friday. The onocolgist's office my husband goes to has a triage nurse on call 24/7 that we can call for concerns that come up in between visits. I will be lifting you and your husband up in prayer that this pain will subside. Take care. Rita

I agree with Rita. See a doctor. If a phone call to my doctors office doesn't give me satisfactory answers, I would go to the emergency room. I don't like emergency rooms, but at least one would get another opinion. I am in Orlando and the oncology department at MD Anderson has MD's on call 24/7 so I always feel that I am getting quality care. You should too. And never put up with pain! There are ways to alleviate pain so one should never have to endure it for very long. I hope your husband is feeling well very soon. I also hope you can post again and let us know how thing go.

I must confer with my friends Pat and Rita, call the triage nurse at your doctors office any time there is a problem. You can go to an urgent care if you don't want to go to the emergency room. But definately don't feel shy about calling the oncologist between visits to report symptoms. They want to know this information, so they can track your husband's progress. I hope you have an answer soon, hope to hear back from you!Valerie
