I am a 68 year old woman who up until 10 years ago was a very severely impaired love/sex addict. My life was unmanageable. A bipolar breakdown plus getting "old" forced me to stop and evaluate what I was doing to myself. After ten years of abstinence, I feel ready to find a healthy relationship. But sometimes I doubt I will ever feel totally normal. Co-dependency was a huge problem. Attracting alcoholics was another. At least I have set boundaries and standards now, determined not to tolerate the same "nonsense" in the future.

It's hard to know for sure. From what I know about recovery, it is not uncommon for a Love Addict to flip sides and become a love anorexic. This is similar to the difference between a recovering alcoholic and a dry drunk. I myself am entering the beginning of withdrawal from love addiction and am terrified that I will never in the future be attracted to anyone but another Love Avoidant. Abstinence itself is NOT recovery. You have to not only establish boundaries, but also establish healthy self-esteem, and have relinquished and grieved the fantasy of having a perfect relationship and finding someone who will make you feel whole. I might suggest finding a good therapist who is experienced with treating love addiction and she what they have to say :)

Hi LivingWater. I keep coming to the conclusion that there is no "normal" in love, at least the crazy, fiery, head-over-heels eternal kind of love we're all looking for, and it's simply going to be the same old wounds opened up time and time again. But I'd rather feel emotional pain than feel nothing at all. It'd just be nice to have some emotional JOY and rapturous SEX mixed in there too lol!

He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...
