Long Distance Relationships (LDR) Support Group
This community is a place where you can share your long distance challenges and triumphs, vent, give long distance tips and ideas, or just get support from people like you who are going through the same thing. Whether you live a couple hours away or a couple continents away, the specific challenges that face a long distance relationship are unique and difficult.
As far as experience with someone from the Philippines, the most that I know is a woman I used to work with named Blanca whom I absolutely adored. I don't really think that you can use any "experiences" to help you in this case, though; everybody is different...an experience with an American man could either be horrible or wonderful..it's not really something that has a real answer.
I'm glad that you have met someone who you hit it off with and care about. I can tell you that LDRs are hard work and they're very trying, but they're also incredibly rewarding and very worth it. If you're willing to put in the extra effort to make it work out, it may be the best thing you've ever done for yourself.
And of course, welcome to the group. We're all here for you to listen and help with any concerns or issues you may have..or, to rejoice with you when something goes right :)
I hope being here helps you as much as it's helped me.
We are all here to support anyone that comes along during the good and bad. IMO we have a really great time doing it...I have found this group to be so uplifting in my down times. I appreciate everyone!
Now, I am not judging you or trying to be a pessimistic but I will lay out probably what you already know, please be careful and do your research...
As for the LDR in general, they can be very fulfilling as well as frustrating at the same time. I would think that goes for anywhere around the globe but oh so worth it...
I am happy you hit it off & I hope it works out! And welcome to the group...
I like to think that we connected on a real fundamental level,,I think she is the real thing,,and we already had some heart to heart discussions ..she has an interesting story about her...which I may go into later on..
My boyfriend is from Scotland and I'm from the US. He's in the process of becoming a citizen and everything should be finalized next year. I can tell you that the whole process is quite daunting, but well worth it for sure!
I think you should focus on getting to know each other first and planning visits (if you haven't done so already) before jumping quite so far ahead. It'll happen if you both put forth the same effort and I'm happy to see you've found someone with whom you can really connect. Best of luck to you both!
