Long Distance Relationships (LDR) Support Group
This community is a place where you can share your long distance challenges and triumphs, vent, give long distance tips and ideas, or just get support from people like you who are going through the same thing. Whether you live a couple hours away or a couple continents away, the specific challenges that face a long distance relationship are unique and difficult.
I get asked this a lot - how often does everyone communicate with their SO?
I've been through a couple different long distance relationships - one was because he went to London for school, the other two were because we met while living apart. The second long distance relationship was, I can safely say, a 2-year waste of my time disaster. After the honeymoon phase of about 5 months, the communication fell off the radar and I could hardly get a hold of him. We broke up, got back together, bla bla, but I was convinced that there is no way to get consistent communication out of LDRs and therefore LDRs don't work.
With my current SO, 14 months and counting, we have talked literally every day. He's been in Vietnam for the past week and the only day we didn't talk was when he was on his flight over there.
So it really depends, but I know a friend who is also in an LDR and they are very busy so they don't get to talk every day. Only a few phone dates a week.
So how often for you?

Eddo calls me every morning on his way to work and we talk for 18 minutes almost exactly, lol. I don't talk to him all day until he gets off of work at 4:15 (my time) and he'll usually call between then and 4:30. If he doesn't call I assume either he's staying late at work or he's talking to his mom. We'll text until that night when either I call him or he calls me. Sometimes we'll skype, but we don't really have a schedule for it or anything.
as for me, my life is a slower pace. i wake up, work, then go to the gym, be at home a while, etc. so i have a lot of down time and i'm looking to get more involved with my city, friens, and life so i don't get bored with myself.
i wish we talked more but at the same time it's nice to be "living my life" in the sense that i'm not restricted to do what i'd like to. at other times i wish we talked more. :\ catch-22s are no fun.
