God helps those who help themselves. What can you do today to not be alone? Where can you go to meet people? Do you smile? Maybe if you make the effort God may respond to your prayers. You do pray don't you?

i know from plenty of painful experience that i go places and they still ignore me.

Its a lot harder if you have health issues that prevent you from being the life and soul of the party isn't it. People don't seem to understand that simple suggestions don't work for all people, if it was that easy you would have done it. Can you find a group that helps people in difficult situations to socialise, there is one called GROW in Australia. The other thing is to develop your hobbies and interests so you don't feel so lonely all the time and will have something in common with some others. Good luck and I hope you find a useful answer.

Thank you looney1; for your comment. If it were easy; wouldn't lonely people be doing whatever it took? I have a large gap between my two front teeth. My Dad tried to remedy this by having all my top baby teeth pulled out. Most in our society expect perfection in appearance. Anything less than perfection is not readily accepted. Strangers have actually asked me "why don't you fix your teeth?" Now, add the fact that I am on oxygen 24/7; so many people are put-off by someone with an oxygen tank attached to them everywhere they go. My friends have slowly drifted away; it could be their inability to accept my use of oxygen and my medical problems. It does not have to be about me; or the fact that I do not always smile.

When you hear ppl say, "God helps those who helps themselves", then please be assured that there is no GOD.

When you reach a certain point in life or experience certain things, one day a light bulb will go off in ur head & you will realize that things happen or don't happen either because of ourselves or others. It has NOTHING to do with "A GOD". Think about it: Good things happen to Bad PPL & Bad things happen to Good PPL. Whether you live according to "The Word", we ALL still are going to die. That's just the way "Mother Nature" is. The Bible was written to keep law & order on this earth. Just as we have traffic laws, policies on the job, rules in schools and rules & regulations at home.

So whenever you hear again, the saying, "God help those who help themselves", you better believe that NOTHING will change for you if YOU don't start to do things differently. Thinking positively is a great help.

The title of the thread is "Why God" Jasper 353 wants God's help and that is his prerogative. People can have faith or belief in a higher power by any name they choose. If one likes ,one can believe in themselves. Different things get people through difficult times. It doesn't matter what one follows or who. I respect everyone's belief system, even Agnostics and Atheists. I referenced the saying "God helps those who help themselves" because of Jasper's own reference to God.

Everyone has their opinion about God and so do I. I love God and his son Jesus Christ. I will never deny him and though I do not properly represent him many times I know he came to save sinners of whom I am chief. Every good and perfect gift comes down from him. He is there when I wake up and he is there when I go to sleep and he is there when I walk and leads me where he wants me to go. I don't speak much about him on DS because people don't want to hear about him but he is my best kept secret, the Lord of all Lords, the King of all Kings. He is the pearl of great price. He lifts my head when I am down. He puts laughter in my mouth and he gives me love to share with others. I am absolutely nothing without him. Every good quality that I possess is his and I take no credit. I know I have been a hypocrite but my aim is to be less and less of a hypocrite every day and make this world a better place. When I die I want to be remembered by someone who will say "this man cared about me when nobody else would". That's all I want. Have a good day.

@Blondie....I am well aware of the title of the thread. And you say it's Jasper's prerogative to want God's help, so, please keep in mind that it's others people's perrogative to have the belief that there is no God.

And you really make NO BLEEPING SENSE WHATSOEVER. You say you respect everyone's belief system, So, why are you rebutting my post just because I said there is no God.??? YOU are talking as if you are a believer in God, yet you say you have respect for an Atheist?? That makes no sense.

"God helps those who help themselves" To that I would say if people are on a forum such as this one trying to interact with others, if they make it through another day doing the best that they can despite illness and other obstacles then they are helping themselves.

God helps those that helps themselves, but god help those that get caught helping themselves.

My goodness, this discussion got a little off track very quickly. To Jasper only:

I get so very lonely sometimes, I think I am going to go crazy if I have to wake up and look at these walls one more day. But I always do. My phone doesn't even work right in my house so I have to text my family all the time.

I can't drive because I have seizures, so I don't go anywhere unless someone takes me. That is usually to the doctor, pharmacy, or grocery store... that's it! Wow! I used to be so active and independent, but unfortunately, I am not any more.

There is a city organization that has its own building for seniors and disabled people nearby. They have all kinds of activities and outings, etc. but I can't get there because we have no buses and taxis are too expensive.

Anyway, I am just so happy that I found this site so I can communicate with other people who can and will understand what I am going through.

As for blaming God, I just don't allow myself to go there. He didn't do this to me. It's just nature. If I thought any different then why does He let babies be born with defects and illnesses. Why did my husband have to die at 49? Why did my daughter have to die at the age of 12 from a rare genetic disorder called San Felipo Syndrome?

I will tell you why! Somehow, I think it is to teach us the most unconditional love one can ever know. God doesn't want us to be lonely! He wants us to love each other unconditionally and find a way to reach out to one another.

You have those of us on this website who are all looking for some moral support and acceptance. So don't feel lonely anymore. We are here for you.
