Recently my girlfriend ended our 2 yr relationship without even feeling bad about it. To add to this I'm a single parent and my son will be entering the military after High School in 6 months. With these two issues I found myself being overcome with loneliness and feeling sorry for myself which is totally out of character for me.
In all reality my life is really good, however here I am in the pit feeling like I have no one, when in truth I have great kids, family and friends that I talk to, but regardless I still feel so alone. It reminds me of the times after my divorce where I could be at an event with a hundred people, however I felt so uncomfortable that I wanted to run.
I do understand that the lose of the relationship triggered this and I also relaize that I'll make it through this period, however for now I'm so tired of the loses and feeling like I'm all alone.

Change is so difficult.
Children at any age worry about their parents, and your son really shouldn't have to worry about you with him leaving for military school. You being so sad could potentially change his mind and make him stay home and change his whole future, perhaps taking away his goals and dreams.
Breaking up from a relationship happens to so many of us and it's hard to rebound for a while. But you will survive and get back on your feet and from this relationship, you will get some valuable lessons. Eventually, you'll look back and see the red flags that told you the relationship was over long before she walked away--but you didn't see the flags.
This lost relationship will show you to look for the flags that indicate problems in a relationship, long before it cannot be salvaged. And hopefully you'll also learn to see flags that indicate a relationship that cannot be salvaged and you should call it quits.
But don't let this "end of relationship" ruin the last months you have before you son leaves. You son will be son forever and no woman should come between that. Give your son a great send off.
You already know that it will get better. Sometimes there is just so much adjustment in life in a short period of time that it can throw us off. It will pass though.
