Her not coming to you is more of a reflection of herself and her own insecurities than it is on you. She obviously considers you a friend, but maybe she has trouble trusting you in a deeper level and thinks it's best to try to keep conversation with you on a more happy note. Sometimes we don't realize those in our lives who are willing to be there for us emotionally without being told directly so.
You can tell your friend, if you ever need me, call me, but don't try to make her feel guilty for not calling you. You don't want to give up, just make yourself be independent and not clingy- it always
makes people back away. You can make your life much better
by working on your relationship with your children. You don't have to be self-sacrificing, just make things a little better for them
and your life will get better.
I lost my nephew last year and, since I can't cry in front of people, I decided to vent and mourn with an online friend. This person was no help and only made me feel worse. When I complained to my roommate about it, she let me know that she was there for me and that I could come vent to her at any time.
It was a "oh! duh!" moment for me. She's been my friend for a number of years and it didn't occur to me that I could come to her instead of seeking people who were far away from me physically and emotionally. I'm sure I hurt her feelings by not coming to her first, but she didn't let on that I upset her in any way.
Sometimes you just need someone to say "It's ok. I'm here for you if you need me" because it's hard to tell, especially when you're grieving and the whole of reality seems really screwed up and nothing quite feels real anymore.
Nowadays, kids are very judgmental. They are always thinking in their minds what I am doing wrong or right.. When we were young, we never judged our parents. They were above and beyond judgement.
I hope you will be able to find some like-minded people who you can be close to. Not everybody is suitable for friendship. Just be discerning and keep looking. Whenever you want, keep in touch.
