Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
It really bothers me when young people are lonely.
I agree that it's one of those things that really gets worse if you dwell on it. I typed but decided against a post yesterday by a woman who
moved to Minneapolis and was dissapointed in the lack of friends she had been able to make there and some surprising statistics about the number of people who said in a survey that they didn't have anyone to confide in. (Found by googling the title: The Modern Friendemic - the Decline in Friendship).
I think what you tell yourself is everything and if you tell yourself
I would like to make friends with someone who is (whatever qualities you want and need in a friend) and focus on possiblities, you will be much better off than thinking about what you don't have.
Off topic, Since a picture truly is worth a thousand words, why would you choose the image above your name to represent you here, or anywhere? It's depressing, hopeless, frightening ... you get the idea.
Besides, reality is relative. So much of life is perception. Right now I keep telling myself that this terrible loneliness is temporary, that somewhere out there are new friends for me, terrific friends, and I just haven't met them yet. Is that delusional pretending or the first step in creating a better reality? Only time will tell, but for now it helps me to hang on.
Yesterday I got stood up by a girlfriend. SHE actually invited me to dinner, but then she didn't show up. I called her cell phone 3 times while I was waiting in the restaurant (ended up waiting 40 minutes and eating alone), but she never called me back. I was so hurt and so angry, but I kept telling myself that she probably had a good reason - a family emergency. Today I get ahold of her and what was her excuse? She forgot! That didn't feel good at all. I'm sick of being treated badly by people. I think I deserve better treatment. But I can't seem to make it happen.
So how to change the "stinking thinking" and attract healthy friendships? The Law of Attraction makes it sound so easy, but I'm finding that really believing and visualizing success in this area to be difficult.
