Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Im now here but about to turn off tv go to bed.
I have been very lonely at times but I did a lot of work to learn to be ok with it. I studied Buddhist philosophy in which it is a virtue in some ways to be alone, I learnt to meditate and I found various ways to be ok with loneliness when the alternative was abuse.
What would work for you? Hobby groups, volunteering, extreme sports like skydiving? Look into your heart and make a bucket list. Good luck.
However, for the kind people that took a moment of their lives to reply, thank you.
@shakyinside I suppose I can try accepting my fate and learn to live with it. I've tried everything else. Im just worried at the end of the day my brain will tell itself- your still alone.
@Scott46 I've tried hotlines but they won't accept anonymity and perhaps some people want the police to show up, I'm just not one of them. In fact it would drive me further into despair.
I prefer to reserve my story to those that want to get to know me, which doesn't seem to happen, I'm simply alone, no one to talk to when I need it or not. Despite everything I try or do my life books down to: work, tv, sleep - eat in between. Glamorous I know. Totally makes life worth living.
Thanks @shakyinside
If you work, can you find friendship there, or at least human contact?
Sometimes a small step (saying hello to your work-mate, talking to the checker at the grocer's) can provide momentum to keep moving.
If DS has not helped, maybe try some other groups. FB has lots of support groups. But they wongt be of much help either if you don't tell them some details.
What have you done to improve your situation? Do you have a clear picture of what you want to achieve? Have you then made a plan about what you're going to do? Friends are not going to magically appear and knock on your door. Just sayin'. I do wish you luck.
Is there a forum you can join where you can connect with other that share your likes?
I was thinking about doing that as well.
Here to help if I can. Im no spring chicken! Recovered alcoholic drug addict in my sixties with some twenty four hours of serenity during my 24plus years sober.
Lets start with your age range? It can help in determining appropriate ideas to help. Twenty somethings do different stuff than fifty plus peeps! Capish?
I've a really shitty day and would be nice to discuss it worth someone instead of repeatedly trying to deal with it myself.
Ultimately, if no one has a use for me, what use am i?
One area where people are needed is in hospice. There are people out there nearing the end of their life with no one to visit them and talk with them. Yes, it would be emotionally taxing, but giving those folks some company when they have no family is a very big deal to them.
That's all I've got now. Does any of that sound interesting?
