Got another computer tower, with windows7 on it, and desktop icons for stuff I never even heard of before. The best things I can say about this new system is that my cpu is under 10 percent, less virus worries, and no electrocuting myself.
During the last hours of my old tower, my cpu was at 100 percent, and, before that, I almost electrocuted myself a couple times from touching the tower case and nearby radiator at same time.
But, I still love windows xp, and will one day put my old hard drive in to get some of my old, familiar, stuff back, to download for new tower.
My Verizon internet service is still $15 a month, though I haven't used Verizon home page since 2007; the special deal I got back then isn't even around anymore. It's fast enough so that I can watch youtube videos with no problems. My basic landline phone is what costs $30 more.
Not as though I have many people to compare such stuff with, it anybody wants to share/complain/rave about what they have.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

i thought, a couple times, of just having my phone over the internet, for about 30 dollars a year...though i really would have been in trouble after my tower broke, since there's nobody in town for me to loan a phone from, and just one pay phone in entire town---and that's long been out of service.
i wasted a lot of today trying to figure out windows 7, without much luck
no im not rich, just hubby is a computer programmer. computers multiply in this house
as for windows 7 I liked that...I had windows xp too...now new computer has windows 8 with classic shell program....love it this way...works much better gives the desktop the way Windows 7 or XP did....
And Pen as for putting your old HD into the new tower...that is not good idea unless just to take from it into a thumb drive then take it back out and put the good one back in....adding from thumb drive all you wanted to stay on your computer...
I've slowly built and rebuilt my computer over the years. It's basically a gaming pc. Not the best there is, but pretty good from where I started. I've also lost several computers and hard drives. I just reinstall my copy of XP on whatever new drive I get.
I'm so glad you're baaaaaaack!
You had me worried.
wow, $200 month phone---my winter electric bill is $300 plus a month, making me extra poor in winter, vs 100 month electic in summer.
yeah, I'm kinda scared of putting my old hard drive into my "new" tower; gonna be awhile before I do that.
the one dvd player on "new" tower already getting stuck, so I downloaded vlc media player with no problems.
windows xp! wish I still had it, though maybe it was virus-prone, from being outdated. I don't think I'm ever gonna figure out windows 7, the way I knew the ins and outs of xp. Cant even defragment on windows7, way could on xp.
my legs are still killing me, from sitting trying to figure out windows7, the reason I wasn't on prior; still recuperating from not being able to even stand up for awhile.
12 block walk today to dr for blood pressure prescription; the walk should help my leg pain.
