Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. Tomorrow is my 5 year anniversary-I feel like my husband doesn't like me-I often wonder if he keeps me out of convenience. I sometimes try and tell him my thoughts/worries and things that upset me and he almost every time shuts me down with if you cant fix then you shouldn't complain about it.
This makes me sad because it's important that I have someone in my life that I can connect with on an emotional level. I don't know what to do-I just want to have someone in my life who I can share my deepest thoughts, worries goals and aspirations with. I feel like with him, I have to filter out all the negative stuff but am I wrong in assuming that it's human nature to have negative emotions and thoughts along with the positive ones?
I have to say I pride myself in positive resilience but I also would like to hear that my worries are valid, my anger is understandable and my sadness is a normal reaction to something that has happened. is it a bad thing to want this?
My next question is how and where can I get that emotional connection with someone without cheating on my husband. I'm really worried that this makes me vulnerable and that any person out there who reinforces my emotions, i will cling to. At this point, I crave it, someone who could stimulate my mind and help me grow emotionally

I got an email from Kohl's that I had a 40% off coupon for today and tomorrow only. It took me about an hour but I placed an order and got some great deals. I have been wanting a new dress. I like dressing up sometimes. My birthday is coming up and I have dinner plans at a nice restaurant. But, honestly, I'm a little out of control again. I went through this in the fall. I bought...

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...

In my experience, I also tried to speak with my husband about my feelings. I told him point blank "I don't feel as though you are in love with me, we do not communicate the way we should and I am not happy." He didn't want to hear it. I asked him to see a therapist with me so we could work on things. He refused so I went alone. It helped validate my feelings and make me feel less crazy. After a few sessions, I was able to deal with the situation with a clear mind.
It seems that in relationships, when we find out the other person is hurting, we get worried because we can't do anything to help them. Or, we feel like it is our fault they feel that way.
Little does the other person know that, maybe all you need is a safe place to express yourself. Your husband doesn't have to fix things, he just has to be there for you to listen and understand.
It is not bad to want any of what you said. It seems like the other posters give good advice about finding someone of the same sex to confide in. Perhaps finding a counselor will help lesser the urge to seek that emotional connection elsewhere.
