I recently, last summer, lost of friend of over 40 years because she can not deal with my depression, and because I am on disability and because I can still walk she thinks I am ok. I told her I told her I got disability due to mental illness not physical.
There were some other things that happened on both our parts that weren't good. But she has a big beautiful home now with an inground pool and it's almost like she doesn't want to associate with me cause I am still poor.
We struggled out whole lives together mind you. Ran away together when we were teenagers. Always had each others back....no matter what.
She had a big party that I helped prepare and set up. Lots of people were there and I had a few napkins. Well, I gave them away and got up and walked a ways and got more. Everyone was asking me for my napkins and I flat out told them no. "Get up and get your own". Well, one of her guests said I was rude. So she got mad at me for that.
Believe me it hurts so bad. I just cry when I think about it. How can someone who has always been so flexible and non judgmental turn into this.
I am hurt and lonely big time.
Does money change people that much?

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

To be honest.the way you said you responded when asked for napkins-was a little rude...but with your illiness-others may not realize that was why you responded that way.
Maybe stating your dr(s) names and meds names-will give an example that you do have an illiness and that illiness is behind a lot of your actions/reactions..
there to help out -- you never know what someone has told people,
and it's odd and childlike that adults would walk over and ask you
for your napkins.
Mental illness or not, when you're rude, you should apologize. You don't have to go into your personal medical history with anyone.
Even if the friendship is lost, I would send a letter or e-mail to her,
apologizing, and wish her well. It will help you.

"It's sad when the people who gave you the best memories, become a memory."
Sometimes people suffer from "Topedos in the front yard syndrome"
All of this hits just a little too close to home! Rather than admit it it's just easier to shame and blame the cause of the discomfort ( that would be you.)
Do you really need someone who is in denial in your life? Be kind from a distance and take care of you!
