This may sound odd, but I actually now feel lonely here on DS. The thing is, I think it's completely my fault. I've been on DS for several years. I used to be on regularly and then, as my life changed and got busier I wasn't on as much. Now when I get on I'm lucky to have a hug. It makes me feel bad but maybe it's because I haven't been there for my DS friends. I had on friend who always sent me hugs, always messgaed me. This person was so positive and I really enjoyed their friendship but finally I stopped hearing from them. I sent hugs and messages with no response. I understand that this person had their own problems going on, but one day I was on and saw that this person was on and got on chat just to say hello and let them know I was worried about them and thinking about them and when I did they suddenely went offline. I guess this is my fault, but it still makes me feel bad.

I'm just trying to get back on DS after a time away. I had some good friends I made here, and let some of them slip away, so I know what you mean. Welcome back and here's a hug to start you off.

Hi, Kacey! Don't feel bad that can happen to anyone. I go online whenever I can but sometimes I can't or my computer goes down or something. I think that happens here a lot. Maybe try sending out some hugs and little messages to people you see on the boards to get things rolling again?

Hi Kacey,

Please don't feel bad. I'm on and off on DS too. The reason is that I start to live my life better, try to be positive and live a healthy life. I can't keep in touch regularly with my DS friends here either, but I hope that they understand and be happy for me being stronger in the real world, thanks to their support.

I think we are all off and on DS sometimes. I was on several times a day then I had an anxiety episode and was off for a week. Just see if you can get back into it and people will probably pick back up communication.

I too was on DS back in 07 I stopped coming here when I met my (now ex) in 08. Well I am once again back here in 2011 after the separation from my now ex fiancee. One thing I have noticed is that DS (to me anyway) has changed a lot. Before, it seemed to have a lot more people talking and helping out. There wasn't a post that went for more then 20 minutes without someone answering. Now it seems that all of my old friends on here have gone and people don't talk as much.
I miss all of my old friends I had on here but I guess when my life moved on so did theirs.... There were many here that helped me see through the dark times in my life back in 07 I wish I could re-connect with them. Although a few are still here....just doesn't seem the same anymore....

I understand...DS to me mimicks real life, however. Friends come and go as their lives change. I have had some friends on here that I enjoyed and connected with, but as their lives changed, they left DS or stopped coming on, and the same thing happens in real life. People change and move on, no longer having the same need or connection. It's part of growing, I suppose, but I still miss those people both on and off DS. However, I'd never reject a friend that had been away for a while and came back looking to reconnect. You will find other friends on here, that will meet the need you have at this time in your life...

I'm sorry you feel bad, but you don't need to.

I know I'm awful at remembering about instant chat. I don't even look at the bar that tells you who is on. It isn't because I'm ignoring people, just that I forget there is that option. Often I also get so lost in what I'm typing, I don't see the messages as I flip from page to page.

It is possible they have done the same thing. They may not of seen your message. They may have also already signed off when you sent your message. I know this has happened between myself and my son when we were gaming. I'd be wondering why he wasn't replying but he had signed off even though the chat bar said he was on and we live in the same house. Ok that sounds really bad. His computer is in a different room so thats why we use chat when gaming, not because we don't communicate.

I can definitely relate to this sometimes...but hey life changes...you're human.You're not alone and if you want a new friend...I'll listen and I won't judge.
