Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
I need some outside perspective because I’ve been feeling extremely lonely in my relationship, and it’s getting harder to ignore.
I’m with a woman who has two kids, and over time I’ve realized I don’t feel connected to her or the home at all. She and the kids have their own bubble, their own rhythm, their own emotional world. I’m there physically, but I don’t feel included in anything that actually matters. I feel like an outsider in the place where I’m supposed to feel most at home.
There are photo albums in the house with pictures of her ex — not of them together, just him. She says they’re for the kids, and I understand that logically, but emotionally it makes me feel invisible. I asked her to put them away, and she didn’t want to. It just reinforces the feeling that this isn’t my space, and I’m not part of the core of this family.
The truth is, I feel deeply disconnected. Not jealous — just lonely. Like I’m living in someone else’s story instead of building my own.
I don’t work right now, so I’m home a lot. But when they’re home, I leave the house because I feel relief when I’m away. I actually feel free when I’m not there. That says everything about how disconnected I’ve become.
She talks about marriage, but I feel pressured by it. I can’t imagine marrying someone when I already feel this emotionally alone. I’m not planning to marry her.
I’ve quietly decided that once I get a job and enough money saved, I’m leaving. I’m not announcing it — I’m just preparing. I need stability before I go.
What I really want is to meet someone new eventually — someone I can actually build something with. I want connection, affection, and belonging. I want to be part of a family, not just an extra adult in someone else’s. I want a future where I’m included, valued, and emotionally connected. I’m scared I might be too old to start a family of my own, but I still want that life.
Has anyone been through something like this? Does this make sense, or am I missing something?

You too know farewell that somber feeling when the sun went down on your wrath, and it left you in tears, and you mustered up the courage to become whole and complete again. And then again, the second time around, it came again, only this time a little stronger to withstand on your own, so pushed and pulled to rise above with loved ones/family.And so we did it again, three times a charm, but this...

Some things we don't talk about, we breathe them... Some things cannot be explained, but rather experienced. Some of the most healing moments arise when given the memory, acknowledging the love. One cannot go back in time; we move forward, and we carry the love we shared. No one but ourselves has the power to do so, or the permission to do so, but ourselves. So live life with your faith and...

Welcome back! Sorry you are in this situation. I looked at your previous posts (I first replied to you back in 2019! About your anxiety, not about this relationship).
It seems to me that you gave this your all. Over 2 years with her. If you are unhappy now after all this time, it most likely will only get worse with her.
I would put top priority on getting a job. Just getting out of the house sounds like it helps you. And you can make your own money to be able to move out.
May I ask, are you financially dependent on her now? Would you be able to leave fairly easily, if you had your job money?
There is plenty of hope ahead. You are only in your 30's, you have so much good life to live ahead of you. This relationship was no one's fault. Just not a good match. I think she is feeling the same way.
Good luck with your job search. You can do this!!
Blended families are hard...a lot of work and turning the other cheek
Yes her ex will be part of the package because they're his kids
When I was young I dated and was serious I thought about someone until we moved in together
He was the father of 2 and he was a great dad but I simply didn't love his kids
They were nice enough children but I realized they were his world as they should be but they weren't mine
These great feelings that we had for each other dwindled pretty fast
I realized that it wasn't for me...it wasn't for either of us
His children were young and needed a lot of care
His ex was in constant contact
All this was as it should have been for him and his children but it wasn't for me
Once it was over there was really no sense of loss
I hope that you find what you're looking for
Another hug and a blessing...xo
I travel alone and have slept alone for years now. Im in the middle of saving to get out. I've even told.my avoidant spouse if.i
Im going to.feel alone than im.
going to be alone. Its worse being with.someone whos.supose to love you and they.just.dont care. I left before and he begged me back but never learned the lesson. My advice to you, DONT get married. It only gets harder and complicates things to leave. Good luck.
The thing is her kids should come first in her life but she probably doesn't need to have a checked out boyfriend living there with them. I also say do not get married to someone you don't love and you don't love their children.
Sometimes we have to cut our losses and just move forward in life. There is better waiting for us. You can't move forward in life until you get unstuck. Best wishes to you.
Loneliness is such a heavy painful thing no wonder you want to get out of the house if you feel excluded
Hope you feel some relief with your decision and I hope you can save up some money to get your own place. Hang in there.
