Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
If i was there i' take you out of cake and coffee, darn and i used to live there too.
I moved.
BTW, I'm glad you are hear and your life isn't meaningless. :-)
Loneliness can be a torment, but at other times (a lot for me) its a balm. Often when I do make myself be social because I'm really feeling loneliness, I end up feeling it wasn't worth the effort. I know that sounds bad, but its not all its cracked up to be. People can be quite disappointing and for some reason (?) I don't find what I'm looking for in them.
I find companionship in animals and nature. Not just dogs and cats, but the fellow spirits I find in birdsong, bugs, trees, water, the sky, the air and the earth. (Yeah, I was a loner as a kid too)
I love your avatar heretic - I have lain with my face against the ground like that so many times, and I feel close with what I feel I am a part of, not the conventional, material, commercial world we are force fed. It gives me a great sense of peace and belonging, and other times I I just wish it would swallow me up. Maybe we don't connect well with most others because we don't fit, but wow - thank goodness , really!
That's just my thing, tho, and we're all so different.
Its easy to say all this stuff but then throw depression into the mix and you can't make yourself think anything but what you're feeling. When you wake up and can't bring yourself to open your eyes becoz you'll have to face being alive for another day of nothing.
I try to ride the lonely, down times knowing there'll be another time when that loneliness will be precious to me and another time when I'll feel stronger and try to put things in my life that will make it special for me, and another time when I'll find something funny, or touching, or wonderful. And those things are worth living for.
The other day I was putting some seed out for the birds and I stood up and next to me was a baby kingfisher (beautiful little bright blue and white bird like a mini kookaburra) on the fence not 2 feet away from my face. It was too young to realise to be scared and I just stood still and we looked at each other for a few minutes. 2 spirits who don't really know what they're doing here, crossing paths and acknowledging each other. Then I walked and it flew and we carried on with life. It wasn't important or meaningful and it didn't help anyone or achieve anything special. But it made me feel I wasn't alone.
Or sometimes I see a bug burrowed into the ground and think , what if I didn't come across it? What if no other living thing ever witnessed or appreciated the existance of that bug? Would that mean its life was meaningless? No way. It is just as much an iportant part of this life, world, universe as anything else.
I've learnt to try to appreciate and see the value in myself, even if no one else sees it.
Heretic, I don't expect you to reply if your not feeling up to it, but what's special to you, what do you like :) ?
You have absolutely NO idea just how wrong you are, my friend. Your life is far more meaningful than my words could EVER express! I have endured more heartache and suffering in the past year than I have ever experienced (and that is saying a lot!!!) and YOU have been one of the things that have kept me going...kept me getting up just one more time to take on this thing we call life. And I am not simply speaking about my particular posts you have never failed to reply to...I read your responses to others and am warmed myself by your love, your charm, and the obvious care that you show to others, though you may say that you are not a people person. If YOU are not a people person, then I sure as hell don't know who is!
You are priceless. One of a kind. You were chosen to be a light in darkness, which is why you have lived in darkness all your life. Can't you see that yet, my friend? If you had not gone through all you have, you would not be able to be the kind of tangible support that you are to me and so many others. That will live on far longer than any cocktail party or social event ever could be. Long after the music of the so-called fun and happy world has stopped playing, your words of love and comfort will still be lighting those of us blessed to have been a recipient of your spirit.
Loneliness is painful. But there is a beauty to it, too. In our loneliness, we have the opportunity to really discover who we are and we can know with a certainty that we can not only survive without the physical presence of others...we can thrive, too, if we choose to.
Some of the best moments of my life, I have spent alone. And I've also felt deep loneliness even in the presence of the one I loved more than life and was secure in that love. I am without that love now, but am complete in myself and in God...so that is enough. Even though it is not enough, at the same time. But that is the paradox of life, you know? Enough never being enough. But if it were, we would stop reaching. We'd stop thriving. We would truly stop living.
I know you do not wish to continue. But I, for one, am so damn glad that you are here and I'm going to hold onto you for all I am worth!
Huggggssss to you, my friend. With all the love in my heart.
I think you rock. :)
