So there are positives and negatives associated with us. I think it is a matter of taking to good with the bad and try to do the best we can for where we are in life!
And, unfortunately, I do think some people think that. I know this because I have actually heard people say it. And even though I am lonely and want friends, I still ask myself "Do you really want friends like that?" The answer is no. I don't want a friend who thinks someone is a loser because they are lonely.
In the meantime, I'll just keep on talking to my cats. They love me no matter what.
I know that I do not know what is going on in those other people's lives nor do I really care, unless we are really close friends. It seems that the type of people you are talking about are just superficial colleagues, who should be kept at a professional arm's distance anyhow.
I have also learned for myself that when close friends or family ask questions similar to those you mentioned, they are saying those out of love for me but just don't understand how their presentation may rub me the wrong way. I try to focus on the "motive" or meaning behind their inquiries, which is concern and love.
