Going through a bit of a rough period...my isolating has sort of hit the surface and it is or seems to be consuming my every waking moment,,, I hate this feeling ,,,women I guess tend to cry over such things ,,,guy tend to either act out or collapse from the inside,,in either case it is a horrible feeling ,,,It is not a matter of getting laid or creating some fanciful relationship as it is just communication with someone who has something of a rational mind,,,
I am not so sure how to break out of this feeling ,,,would like to interact with someone on a real-time basis,,,I go to meetings, 12 step meeting and though I can ascribe to problem with alcohol in the past, I am using it as a door stop to battle my demon of isolation,,,and it ain't working very well,,,It seems that the various attempts at being social with those I know ,,seem only to get slammed to the ground and I am in worse shape for it ,,,
The whole thing just makes me crazy...

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

but let me say this...I forced my way into a group from my home group where the men *mens meeting" eat dinner together every tuesday night before the meeting...I showed up and kept on showing up...I also missed one night and asked the home group mens meeting if anyone was going to dinner after the meeting...a group invited me and I was able to have a new group...I ended up with one of those main men as my new sponsor...so now I am included if I wish to be with that group....
another meeting I was going to often met after the meeting to drink coffee or eat...I went once...I do not go to that meeting now but just could if I wanted...
the point is there are some existing groups to be broken into....then it is a bit of a challenge to be accepted there but hopefully you can make something in those meetings happen....
I wish you luck and also suggest going back to Intherooms.com and chatting it up in there...that makes me happy at times and others I just see whose there and leave...but I have friends there too...just not the close hug type for being next door...but I love my twelve step friends...still feel isolated from most of them because they never reach out to me...in my 16+yrs sober I never had a sponsee....so you know I am hurt about that...but I still stay within the program to be with people....it helps more than anything else because of its support ideals....
hugs and you want my email just ask....hugs bill
Whenever I feel im too alone I just stop by some stores and they always welcome me with a more warm and accepting greeting. Im not sure if you have such place like that near your home but its a real isolation killer.
Lol after alot of visits you end up going to local sci fi conventions for entertainment and meeting even more friendly people with similar interests. Story of my life
