Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

I would like to be able to have actual conversations with my neighbors. There is this one behavior some of them engage in that is beyond my ability to understand, and it leaves me feeling rejected and sad. They will walk up to me and say something, and as soon as I've uttered about two syllables in response, they will quickly turn and walk away from me. They don't even let me finish a sentence. And, if there is anyone else nearby, they will head directly to that person and engage in a lengthy conversation with that person.
I don't have bad breath or bad body odor or anything like that. I am not a physically threatening person; in fact, I'm quite a bit shorter than average in height. This happens to me too often to be just an accident. So, what is the reason for their behavior? Any ideas? Have you encountered anything like this in people?

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

without knowing what they were saying to you it is hard to know how to respond to this....are they inviting conversation or chewing you out for something or just what are they uttering? very weird.....
I regulary go to a gym its been about a month ago since I started. Well my oldest daughter is my workout buddy. The people that have walked up to us have seem more connected to my daughter then me and these people are older then me. I give eye contact and smile and say hello to this one older lady and she seems much more friendly with me 24 year old daughter . She will give a sort of forced smile and when she see's my daughter she gets a genuine smile and holds it longer. Crazy how we can notice things like that and I wish I wouldn't , because it keeps me wondering what is wrong with me, lol.
I don't smell ,(might have cofee breath) and I don't dress crazy so whats wrong with me
They are very rude and I would tell them so.
If I were you, I'd just pay them no mind. And if they talk to me, I'd walk away from them and see how they like it. That's all.
It's really sunny outside, the birds are making their bird-type noises, the squirells are digging up mothers flowers, & there are bees & ants everywhere. I hate May...and June...but not as much as I hate July & August....Fuuuuuuuck Yooooou, Summer time. I make NO distinction between Spring or Summer, cos you both absolutely SUCK.
I've gotten treatment like that before, but not so consistently. With me, it's nearly always men (not that I talk to men so much anyway!!), so I thought it was some macho redneck "don't listen to women" thing. I've noticed they don't do that with women who flirt. They pay attention to them. But I don't flirt--at all--so they may think (not consciously) that I'm just not interesting. I don't make eye contact so good either.
Many people find it hard to give their attention to those who are different. The fact that you are unusually short may be enough to make them uncomfortable. I don't know, of course; that's just a thought.
If I were there, I'd listen.
Downstairs neighbor, doesn't speak much English and cooks smelly food. Her son is an expert at garage door slamming so that you would think there was a minor earthquake. One time I swear I heard their country's national anthem through my bathtub drain.
I purposely got my Yorkie to force myself to leave the house!
Some of my neighbors are the root of my depression. In my case, it seems that I just don't fit in...and it isn't something I can fix. For starters, I am done having kids and my youngest is older than most of the other kids. My kids don''t require my supervision outside....and they don't want me out there, either. Since my neighbors have younger kids, they obviously have formed a group...which includes dinners and sharing babysitting, etc. *sigh*
I have friends outside of my street but....it does hurt that I am not a part of the neighborhood group. Believe me, I've tried to insert myself....but truthfully, it is awkward. There have been so many times that they are all out their chatting with each other...and when I have walked out to join them it is like I am interrupting something or...I am invisible. Maybe I am too old?
Living on my street really stirs up loneliness in me and that is saddening because I feel so much better when I close my door or garage door when all the neighbors are out there.
When my neighbors are out of town, I feel wonderful, happy and free.
Exclusion is lonely.
Same way in some stores with the cashiers.
The idiot that was upstairs from me selling unlicenced cigarettes---none of his lowlife customers said a word to me as I passed them on the steps, and now it's a half-way house bunch in same apt that don't say anything as we pass by one another.
I've also come to accept that I'm also a 4-eyed nerd, so that's another reason all the would-be tough hillbilly idiots----practically none of whom wear glasses, no matter how elderly---don't acknowledge my existance.
