Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. Sometimes people get so busy with their lives, they forget about taking time for family.
I am sorry those around you don't seem to notice you.
Could you call one of your daughters or a friend and just surprise them? Find out what is 'new' in their lives.
May you find support here on DS.
he had become bedridden...they moved him to the recliner in his living room during day so he could watch TV.....he had MSA which is like Lou Gerhgs ALS type of disease....
anyway I know people here are around but you have to do the work to make friends here....asking to be friends is something that will allow you a window into that other persons life here and then you can share with them via Internet....it is not telephone or in person but it is something to help lesson the loneliness....

It's like once I became disabled, everyone disappeared. I'm not the outgoing, fun individual I once was, taking care of everyone.
Bill, sorry to read of your friends passing. May your friend rest in peace.
ML only contact I have with humans is shopping centers, I don;'t even get phone calls from telemarketers. I've been isolated for years !!!!!!!
Truly saddens me to discover, the lack of love/affection in our world, specially from religious communities.
I went to a local church, not one member acknowledged me, I just sat alone.
At the church the pastor should have spotted a new face and introduced himself and welcomed you. Any good pastor would have. Maybe you could go again or try a different church. Church is like clothing; it has to fit you properly.
You've got me thinking about my mother. After college I took a job across the country. I visited 2-3 times a year, including Christmas and Thanksgiving. And we spoke at least once a week. Looking back it wasn't enough. She sacrificed so much for me growing up. She was quite shy and had no friends, just her cat. I truly wish I had found work closer to home.
My daughter and I did have a heart to heart discussion, she apologized and promised to visit soon, but I'm not holding my breath. Her method of communication is social media, she never calls.
Church I attend was wonderful, I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, but the members were very non welcoming or friendly.
I'm sure your mother is very understanding, grateful and appreciates the times you two do spend together or have long distance conversations. You can always have her visit you as well.
It was late at night when i wrote that last post. I failed to mention that my dear sweet mom passed in 2008 of cancer. She did very much appreciate my visits, and we spoke once or twice a week. She was a loner and had only me t talk to, aside from her cat. But looking back [admittedly through grieving eyes] I could have found a job much closer to home. I didn't need to move so far away. Also she delayed going to the doctor when the tumor started blocking her colon. I will never forgive myself for not being there sooner. Had I lived near by it would have been different. I wish I could convey to your daughter how much she is going to regret all those no-shows when you are gone. She really needs to spend time with you while she can.
So sorry for your loss Scott46. Truly, wonderful, the love/comfort you, were able to provide your mother even in distance. I'm sure she was not expecting you to change course of your life, but to live a happy life, visit her whenever possible. Your mother only desired love for you as you did her.
As for my eldest daughter, nothing has changed. She contact me twice, since last posting to site. Both times, had positive intentions, and both times a no show, she only lives 2 hours away. Truly broke my heart, but I was understanding of her situation, being a single mother, raising a newborn child. So, I made arrangements to visit her mid March.
My other daughter, I haven't seen in 4 years going on 5, I understand why? very long story, mainly because I wasn't there for her as she was growing up. She blames me, for her childhood/teen difficulties.
Although the distance, both assure me they love me. So, I am at peace.
It's not just "get in the car and go". Planning and packing for feedings, changes, clothes, naps, etc is not a piece of cake. I remember those days and would rather plan and pack for a 2week vacation than get an infant ready for a road trip.
