And let me challenge being happy about being sad you are alone. Let's drop the loaded "happy" name or feeling. Let's just work on acceptance, not happiness. Happiness is fleeting and a big emotion. What if just for today, just for this hour, you can accept that you feel lonely and sad because of difficulties with relating to other people. What if you tell yourself -- okay I feel lonely but now I am going to read a book, go for a walk, plant flowers, go purchase a houseplant, clean the bathroom, etc. etc.
So often this diagnosis takes really good treatment and really good therapy from someone educated and skilled in such things as DBT. Not just any licensed clinical therapist. There may be online zoom classes and support groups for this diagnosis and I know the woman who created the theory behind BPD also created a workbook that goes along with the DBT therapy she helped create. There is hope and help for you. Might be too hard to do it alone, though.
