Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
I'd like to introduce myself please.
I'm 69 years old, severely disabled and housebound.
I live alone now as I had to kick my wife of 36 years out, she left me no choice. I discovered she was having an affair, it broke my heart to be honest, anyway, I decided to try and forgive and forget, but she didn't stop seeing this other guy, she made it blatantly obvious. My two adult children went ballistic and disowned her, in the end I asked her, why are you doing this to me, she said, because I enjoy it. that was it, I threw her out on the spot.
As I said I'm alone now, I applied for a place in a care home, one where there would be other people around, assisted living contacted me and took the details, the first pace they offered me was in a block of flats on the 4th floor, so I refused that one, now with Cardiff council you only get offered 2 houses or whatever, so about a month later they offered me a bedsit, I mean, seriously. told them to shove it, so now I have been taken of the list.
I like my house, but I can no longer manage in it, I have heart failure and COPD, meaning walking more than 20 feet is almost impossible.
I am gasping for breath if I try to walk that far.
I sit and think to myself, if I live another 5-10 or 15 years I shall be doing exactly as I'm doing now, nothing.
Then there is the loneliness, My kids come to visit as often as they can, but they are very busy as they both have their own businesses to run. I probably see them once a month.
Other than that it's like living in solitary confinement.
Isn't it funny how quickly you lose friends when you become ill, I used to have dozens, I'd sort their cars and motorcycles for the MOT, doing welding, engine overhauls, clutches, brakes everything really.
Now nobody bothers anymore, as I can't do that type of work anymore, (Doctors orders) don't think for one minute I could do it anyway.
Sorry if I have bored you with my introduction, I just had to tell someone, if you know what I mean.
Thanks for reading.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Anyway, to cut a long story short, one day I woke up in the intensive care ward, apparently I had collapsed and was taken there by ambulance. I found out from my Son later that I was unconscious on the kitchen floor, and that he had called for an ambulance.
After a bit of calculation, I realised I had been unconscious on the floor for nearly 3 days. The wife was there the whole time and did nothing.
I was in the hospital for 18 weeks, I had a heart attack and they had fitted a stent, but my lungs were full of water, hence the breathlessness. I very nearly died, when I was back at home my GP told me I was VERY lucky to have survived the HA, as it was massive.
In all that time my loving wife came to the hospital once, and that was only because the ward sister had phoned her and wiped the floor with her, as I had no clothes or anything, except for what I was wearing. The hospital is roughly 1.5 miles from my house, you can see it from the bedroom window, and she had her own car that I bought for her plus mine was in the drive.
If it wasn't for my son and daughter I would have had no visitors at all.
That sounds a very good idea, I have two spare bedrooms, but how would I go about getting a couple of female students to come to my home, I couldn't have boys/men because of my dog, He's an 8.5 stone rottweiler and built like a tank,
he HATES all males, I have no idea why, but he can be very nasty when males come to the house. But he's fine with girls and women. How would I go about spreading the word that I have room at my home for a few female University or College students? wouldn't people think I was a pervert or something?
Thanks.

Yes I have a few pets, there's bubbles my goldfish, my daughter won him and another at a fair ground, that was about 15 years ago, sadly the one died, but bubbsy is 15 years old now, he's quite large as I have him in a 140 litre tank, then there's my two budgrerigars, Tom & Snowflake, granddaughters picked the names. Their brother and sister so they get along great together. And last but not least is Kai, my dog, he is a Rottweiler, 8.5 stone and built like a tank, he can be VERY nasty especially with men, he hates them for some reason.
And your correct, I'm in the United Kingdom. best wishes, Vangellis.
To be honest, I've given up on life altogether, It is blatantly obvious that my health shall never improve, this has been confirmed by a heart consultant and my GP.
Like I mentioned earlier, I have heart failure and COPD. I am unable to leave the house or go outside as my COPD won't allow me too. I can barely walk 20 feet without gasping for breath.
I have more or less resigned myself to getting up, having some breakfast, coming on here (the pc) until about 6pm, then I play video games on my Xbox till about 3am, then back to bed. Apart from that, nothing.
I know what you're going through with panic/anxiety attacks, I suffered from those in my early 20's, I can remember they were horrible, terrifying in fact.
Best wishes.
