I grew up in a very strict household with a paranoid father, my 3 sisters and my mom. We were not allowed to bring anyone in the house, no friends, no one. As children, we were raised to play amongst ourselves only. My parents never had any company either, as my father would scare everyone away by doing weird things. I loved my sisters but needed outside stimulation from other children, and never learned much from the outside world, only when I was in school I did. I only had one friend in my whole childhood, and she moved with her family to Greece. I was devastated. Luckily, I left home early and was able to escape some of the nonsense. Even still, I have trouble keeping friends, even though I am considered a good person. I have trouble in relationships with men too. I got to be a loner. I do lots of things by myself. This used to really bug me, watching everyone with someone else and me alone. My counselor helped me a lot...I went on medication and saw things in a different light. I learned to ACCEPT it. Accept the loneliness. Keep busy to avoid depression, and go about your life, even if it's alone, never mind what anyone else thinks. The thing that helped me the most was the ACCEPTING part.
