There have been several posts on god and prayer lately, I wanted to give my opinion.
This is not a feel good or uplifting post so if you don't want to hear it stop reading now.
I have been praying to god all my life, since I was a young child, and god has never given me the mercy I asked for. I pleaded with him when I was little to let my "real" parents come and take me away from the people god gave me too. I couldn't accept that god would want me to be living with monsters. But he did.
When I got older I asked god to protect me from the people in my life, but instead he watched as I was raped and beaten, Jesus has been by my side through it all and has allowed so many horrible things to happen to me when he could have sent angels to protect me. But he didn't.
I still pray to god every night and beg him to take me home where I belong. I plead with him for mercy and not to allow me to go through the horrors that I live with. But when christ hung on the cross and begged for mercy god turned a deaf ear. Jesus said My god why have you forsaken me? And that is what I say every day too. Why has god forsaken me?
I will continue to pray till I die, which I hope will be soon. And then I will face god and hopefully get some answers as to why he never heeded my pleading. I understand that god answers some peoples prayers, just not mine. God has given other people blessings in life and given me none. I wish I knew why. Some day soon I hope for answers.

Obviously, praying to die isn't what He wants. So how about praying for something else instead. Praying for guidance, praying for another person, thanking Him for the birds singing or the sun shining. Thanking Him for that roof over your head, for that food you eat, for the computer and internet you are using. Sometimes we are not grateful for what we have and envy others. We should be grateful for what we have, even if it is meager for some have nothing.
There are many questions to which we dont have answers. Many of us are baffled why there is so much injustice in the world, when God can prevent it. But we do not understand his Plan.
We can only keep on having unending faith, that what He does is for the best.
It is difficult to believe this when there is so much negative in our lives. There is a tempation to stop believing.
But it is wiser to keep your faith; just hold on, and go on believing that one day your questions will be answered. Keep your inherent goodness alive.

We suffer for the sins of other men, though we may be good. We have an inner voice to guide us but often we do not listen. Maybe if you find your way back to your church, faithful followers will help you to find your way back to God..
Our life here is not about having things or the perfect life. We are here to redeem ourselves and show our Lord we deserve eternal Paradise. It doesn't matter what name you call your God or what your reward is in the end or if you have to go to Limbo, or come back again to get it right. The key is to have faith in something to find inner peace.
Those of us that have faith, find inner peace by believing we will be rewarded in the end for the suffering we endured. We do not hurt others, steal their possessions or envy them. We do not wallow in sorrow. We get up and fight the devil, avoid the evil and show love and compassion to our fellow man.
You will find peace and resolution by loving your fellow man even though they have done wrong. You will draw goodness to you by being kind.
When people stray from their faith and find their way back, they feel they are born again, You too can give your life a second chance. Find your way back to a church, it doesn't matter the faith. Find loving followers that will embrace you.
My heart breaks for you and others that have become lost souls due to others who have hurt them. You can find your way out of your darkness and loneliness by following the Lord.
