I get it, I'm a lot. It's no wonder that no one wants to be my friend IRL. I'm too much. I know that. I know why the people I consider to be my friends need a break from me. I have a lot of shit, and I need my friends. But, I know why they don't want to spend time with me. Of course, that could also just be my anxiety and depression talking, but...

My thoughts tell me that too. And at times... I am a bit to much for most. Dialectical behavior therapy taught me that there needs to be a balance between what I need from my friends and family, and therapy. As much as everyone tries, I can't realistically expect those close to me to really understand. The group therapy environment does. I do my best when I'm in group and actively participating and investing in myself.

I currently see a therapist, we don't do dialectical behavior therapy though.

To be honest with you, I don't know what to say here. I think you probably have at least one friend who will stick with you through thick and thin, possibly even two. The others don't count as true friends. When the money dries up, the good looks fade, you're no longer fun to be with - then you're history. They may even feel bad for a bit.

I went to a Dialectical Behavior course a while back, but it didn't sink in. Then I went back again. And again. Finally, it's all making sense and it has helped me a bit. I do see slow improvement. It does help.

Yes! Maria718, just keep investing in your depression recovery. Just going to therapy is selfcare... and if I'm not mistaken... dbt showed me that im too focused on black and white thinking. If I take time to consider other factors or view points... I can make it through my big problems.

Wow wish I could afford a therapist maybe it would help me.

There are some that have a sliding scale for their fees. The one I go to is only $35 per hour session due to him going through my school. I would see if you can find one, even if they are too expensive, they normally know people who are not as expensive as they are, and if they are good therapists, they will either recommend less expensive therapists, or use a sliding scale.
