Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

I have a meaningful job, I do daily meditations, mini road trips and travel, walk an hour per day and talk to my bestie at least twice per work, and chat w my friend Ian through texting. But my life still feels extremely lonely (maybe I'm feeling empty bc everyone I cared for is now gone. After 25 years of caring I now have a big hole in my life). Of course I asked AI how I can get more out of my life and here's the response

Now that I am not talking to my whatever best friend, I realized that her life is full of drama. I had grown tired of hearing her stories about her boyfriend many months ago. She basically had been monopolizing conversations for that long too. She pretty much stopped asking me questions about me. I passed her in front of her classroom the other day and didn't even look at her. I am...

Jay's podcasts are really good. I watch them on YouTube for free. Today, I watched his video about motivation. In fact, I've been watching a few videos on this subject. Jay gave us an assignment to complete the following sentence: I am stuck because? I don't describe myself as stuck, but to finish the sentence, I would say that I am stuck because I am tired. When I have energy, I do...

So to me, you are very lucky and have a lot to be grateful for, even in the quiet moments. Because the presence of Ian and the bestie in your life means that not all of the people you cared for are gone.
I feel alone and lonely at times myself. Was trying women's bookclubs to make new friends and the women my age are often so angry and unhappy that they don't make good friends if that makes sense. Too negative and unhappy.
I decided to give in to reality for the fall and stop chasing friendships. And it has been a relief to not long for what I don't have so much.
And I have noticed I am now paying attention to the women I do meet in my current life. I would have not noticed them for friendship material in the past because I was too focused on finding the right friend in those local bookclubs.
My several friends and acquaintances that died in the last couple of years just dropped my good feeling about life. I know I am more alone now than ever and when I ruminate on that I get lonely big time. I miss my dearest elderly friend so much but I am learning to let it be and move on in my own life.
I enjoy reading your posts and writing back to you. You are a good person and I hope you get to know Travis more. He might be friendship material.
