Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

So, the band my boyfriend plays with had a show last night. I really wanted to go because it was their last show at this venue. The club is moving after Christmas. Unfortunatly, I had to work that night, so I asked some of my coworkers if they'd like to carpool up there to see them. I even offered to pay their door and buy the first round. One girl accepted, and seemed really excited about going.
So me and this girl go up there. The whole way up, she's getting texts from another friend who wants her to come to another club. I don't think much about it- she seemed so excited about hearing the boys.
Once we get to the club, she says she might only stay for a few songs. Okay no big deal- at least she'll kinda hear them. While the guys are setting up and doing sound check, she leaves to go see her other friend. She never heard one song. She says she'll make it up to me, but I can't help feeling hurt and angry. What is so wrong with me that people always want to get away from me? I think I'm an interesting person, yet she felt like making a swift getaway. WTF?

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

Haha! If I was closer, I"D go hear your bf play with you ;)
I agree with Yulia2077, for some reason some people have real trouble with saying:
EXAMPLE: Hi, I'm already with a friend and I promised I'd be with her to watch the band.
Whats that called speaking up?
People are so self centered & just plain lack ANY manners!
I myself can't understand this but it happens.
I'm so sorry that you had to experiance this.
I would talk to the lady who bailed & tell her how you feel. I cannot guarantee that she'll comprehend how her actions affected you, selfish types tend to be a bit dense in the head, but at least you'll have said how you feel.
You'll either need to go alone or perhaps pick less flaky/unreliable types to hang with which I know is hard.
The gal you went with just should have said "No thank you" if she was the least bit unsure.
Unfortunately the majority of people are just plain clueless on communication, empathy, and learning to say no.
It's all about THEM. Makes you wonder what their parents or guardian taught them when they were young.
I'm thinking NOTHING!
I agree with some of these other posts. Your friend was just a little immature and selfish. And you gotta remember, you might have a loving loyalty to your boyfriend, but your friends might not be about that same supportive feeling. They're looking for entertainment, something fun to do.
