if you get your internet through Verizon you should have an email address or a few through them. I think I can have up to 7 or 10 with my quantum fios....I know my FIL has the one with his dsl. He might have more but I know there is definitely one.

other places to try are gmail. not sure what they require though.

why not keep the email as a memorial to the cat?

I don't know if I can handle the old e-mail address, especially since it has his age in it that I hoped he would live to; 2 years short.

As far as I know, adding a mobile phone is optional on yahoo. I have several yahoo emails and only my main one is linked with my cell phone number in case of losing password. The others often ask me to add a cell, but I can always decline then go read my emails/delete my spams.

Like Angel mentioned, another good free service is gmail.

I have been using hotmail for years.

email at hotmail should be free and I don't know any need for cell phone number add in some random numbers....put in non cell phone number...I dunno...as was said it is used to get a text to change your password if you need to get in and do not remember your password....

by the way what is your cats name? since we never really ever hear you call him or her by name just my cat....my cat my cat....is his or her name cat?

just finished switching to outlook for my e-mail, and firefox for my browser---i hate both;)

but, have gone through other internet options in last year, to try try try to get rid of bad reminders with what going on at my life at the time.

have also given up on any upbeat screensavers----have a blank orange background with some desktop shortcuts.

threw away my reloadable american express card; 2nd hand ebay stuff and amazon 99 cent songs didnt help me get over my prior loneliness, when my cat was still alive----all just bad reminders now.

just found out that outlook will give me notices of new posts on daily strength---but it wont link right to what the e-mail is about, it only links to my profile.

but...

There's Mail.com, which I've used before, and it works alright. (: You can even choose different - for instance - @usa.com, or @mail.com, or @myself.com, @techie.com... There's many different options.

You could try Yandex.com. I have an account there, it has unlimited space and it lets you pick a time for the email to be sent and notifies you when its looked at. The phone number is just an option for extra security. I think most of the larger email providers use that. You could use AOL.

So sorry about your cat, I can relate to the reminders and making it more difficult.
