My worthless dad never missed a sunday at church---or all saturday at the bars.
My idiot dad also went around caroling at church members homes at xmas---while our house was always depressing during every holiday.
my drunken dad would show up at yearly church business meetings---with me stuck in our car during the winter for an hour, 8 miles away from home; never occured to him to let me stay home that sunday.
my cheapskate dad had lots of money for bars, church, whatever lowlifes---but zero money to make our rotted wood house look nice, or even giving me, his only kid, a dollar out of the clear blue sky.
lots of such post traumatic stress religious memories for me, now all alone, with no friends or family.

the crushed stones...etc, I have yet to understand. I don't even know that it is talking about balls. Dueteronomy is not a place I've spent much time in. it is a lot of rules outlined for the jews that Lord gave much too, it was a covenant between them. Do I think stoning people and smiting towns is harsh...yes I do. Do I think the evil in humans left on it's own would not only continue to destroy and pollute this planet but the solar system and beyond. Absolutely! The new testament is a covenant offered to us, an offer of forgiveness and a new life. Take it or leave it, because you have free will to do so.
The quote in Isaiah, seems to be referring to Lucifer and his children. Keep in mind I am not a teacher but a student. But if you read several sentences ahead, and review the entire book ahead, you may see this for yourself.
The bible truly is something that needs to be studied, not merely read.
